• Panathenaic Stadium - The Panathenaic Stadium, dating back to the 4th century B.C., hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and remains the starting point for the Olympic flame torch relay. Constructed entirely of white marble, it is a stunning sight, earning the nickname Kallimarmaro, or “beautiful marble.” There are designated morning hours for jogging, allowing you to run in the footsteps of former Olympians.
• Archaeological Museum of Marathon - Located in the eastern part of Attica prefecture, the Marathon Archaeological site is renowned for the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC, where Athenians and their allies, the Plataeans (around 11,000), clashed with the Persians (over 125,000) during their invasion of Greece. The Athenians successfully repelled the Persian invasion, preserving their culture, philosophy, art, theater, and innovative politics, which serve as a beacon for democracy and modern Western civilization. The site includes a tomb for the 200 Athenians who fell in the battle, and a marble trophy erected by the Athenians to commemorate their victory. Numerous historical artifacts are displayed in the nearby Archaeological Museum of Marathon.
• Sanctuary of the Egyptian Gods - Excavations have uncovered the extensive complex of the Egyptian gods sanctuary, a luxurious bathhouse (balneum), and a large ellipsoidal cistern to the south. Visitors can explore the archaeological site, thanks to restoration work by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture with financial support from the European Union (3rd Community Support Framework).

The complex was founded by Herodes Atticus around 160 AD. The great orator, sophist, and benefactor, who hailed from Marathon, likely established the complex on his estate. The sanctuary is identified as “the sanctuary of Canopus” mentioned by Herodes’ biographer Philostratos (2nd-3rd century AD). Herodes modeled it after Emperor Hadrian’s Serapeion at Tivoli, near Rome, which was inspired by the Serapeion in the town of Canopus on the Nile Delta.

• Archaeological Museum of Brauron - This well-organized museum in Vravrona features numerous artifacts and pieces of art. It is user-friendly, with all exhibits on one floor and handicap accessible. Detailed descriptions are provided in both English and Greek, offering a journey back in time.
• Temple of Artemis - The Temple of Artemis (Diana) offers stunning scenery and a beautiful museum. The sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron/Vravron is an early sacred site on the eastern coast of Attica near the Aegean Sea. The Archaeological Museum of Brauron/Vravron, located around a small hill 330 meters to the ESE, houses an extensive and important collection of finds from the site throughout its period of use. The Sanctuary of Brauronian Artemis was one of the most significant sacred sites in ancient times. Vravrona (or Brauron), about 20 km from Athens, was one of the 12 towns of Attica that Theseus united to form Athens.
• Temple of Poseidon - Visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon, which offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. On a clear day, you can see at least seven islands.
• Sounio Beach - After visiting the archaeological sites, we will stop at a beautiful small beach and dine at an authentic Greek restaurant by the sea. Enjoy your meal or “Meze” while gazing at the Temple of Poseidon and the Aegean Sea.
• Athens - As our tour concludes, we will return to Athens via the Athenian Riviera, the best drive in Athens with stunning sea views.
