• Devonport - This charming township, often compared to Sausalito, is the oldest suburb on Auckland’s North Shore. It features picturesque streets lined with over 5,000 historic wooden villas.
• Muriwai Gannet Colony - The westernmost point of our tour, offering views of the gannet colony and breathtaking vistas along New Zealand’s west coast and the Tasman Sea.
• North Head Historic Reserve - Rich in history, this site is an underground “mini city” with a maze of tunnels, some of which we explore. We walk around this volcano (a flat walk) with simply spectacular 360-degree views of Auckland.
• Achilles Point - A place rich in history with stunning harbour views.
• Soljans Estate Winery - New Zealand is renowned for its wine, and we explore the wine-growing district of West Auckland, stopping for some wine tasting.
• Riverhead - Our lunch destination is Riverhead, steeped in history dating back to 1857, overlooking the uppermost finger of Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour (lunch not included in the tour).
• Mission Bay - Enjoy the stunning views of Auckland Harbour’s coastline, lined with beautiful native pohutukawa trees.
• Kohimarama - Another of Auckland’s inner-city beaches, formerly home to New Zealand’s native parera duck.
• Remuera - Known as New Zealand’s wealthiest suburb, where we explain how to determine the age of the old wooden villas, their construction, and other features.
• Mount Eden - Visit the highest point in Auckland (196 meters) with simply spectacular 360-degree views. This is one of 56 extinct volcanoes in Auckland, boasting one of the largest volcanic craters in the area.
• Tamaki Drive - Travel along this road, built in 1931, offering magical views of inner Auckland.
• Parnell - Parnell is Auckland’s oldest suburb, dating back to 1841, and is home to the Auckland Rose Garden and the Golden Mile of Parnell, with its numerous eateries and the quaint Parnell Village.
• Orakei Basin - not Orakei Korako! - We visit one of Auckland’s three crater lakes, formed from a volcanic eruption that occurred 85,000 years ago.
• Paritai Drive - The most affluent street in Auckland and New Zealand, offering breathtaking views over the harbour and city.
• Waimauku - We venture into the countryside of West Auckland, where guests will see farms, livestock, and marvel at the lush green pastures.
