We landed in Auckland at... - We landed in Auckland at 7am and couldn’t check in to our Airbnb until noon. This tour was the perfect way to pass the time while getting out there and experiencing the area and stretching our legs after a very long flight from the US. Tui was our guide. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He met us in the airport right off the flight, helped with our bags and took us to several great places based on our desire to see the outdoors and get out and walk a lot. Then delivered us right to our Airbnb. Highly recommend this tour, and Tui in particular!

Private Tour of Auckland and the Countryside - We had one on one treatment which made the tour very personal. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. 100% enjoyable.

A great way to see the major sites - Our guide and driver - Tui - was excellent. Very accommodating and informative. The tour was a terrific overview of Auckland.

Fun tour and flexible - It was a fun and educated tour. Tui was a fun guy and took us to some key points and highlights of the city. He accommodated our time and interests to stop the places that we like to see. The best thing for this tour was that he picked us up from the cruise terminal, tour the city, then took us to the airport on time. So we didn't worry about the luggages after disembark from the cruise ship. Of course, we need to pay extra for the transportation to airport, it was worth.

Okay but not great. - Our guide Douglas was very nice but he seemed somewhat confused about what he was supposed to show us. He was under the impression that we were supposed to tell him what we wanted to see as opposed to taking us to the sights listed in the Viator agenda. Time could have been spent more efficiently.

Think we were unlucky but not worth the time. - Unfortunately there had been a big accident outside the city delaying our pick up by 90 mins. Not sure if we got our original driver in the end or a replacement but there was no real plan, we were asked what we wanted to see but having only arrived late the night before we didn’t really know & thought there was a planned itinerary. We were taken over the bridge for a view of the city but sat in traffic for ages. The advertised route included a beach on the west coast & our driver seemed surprised we wanted to see it - it was a long bumpy drive but had it not rained ( the only hour of the whole holiday !) it would have been a lovely spot. Our driver was lovely but quiet & it was difficult to hear him sometimes. He provided water & a snack which was a nice touch. The mini bus was comfortable but the windows had a film over one side meaning we could only see out of one side & the front so not great for a sightseeing tour. We had to return to base before we had seen everything as we had a sailing trip booked ( fabulous & well worth it). We were out for more than the 4 hours booked but due to out later trip had to rush the ending. Possibly a good way to see outside the city but a route & plan could have saved time.

Not a good operator. - This was not a tour. The operator hired a Taxi driver the night before. The driver was friendly and personable. But, we did not appreciate the fact that he was not a guide. For over $600 NZ dollars for 4 hours, this was unacceptable. I tried to confirm a few days before our port arrival to get the name and phone number of our guide as well as details on pickup, but the operator never responded. After arriving to the port, I tried to call the number on the contact info and it was not operable. This is unacceptable especially in a foreign country and led to a stressful situation.

See above - First, let me start by saying our driver was a very nice man. However, he did not seem to be as knowledgeable about Auckland’s specific areas of interest. The tour company should have trained him with more of the facts in my opinion. He was very pleasant and a safe driver, however. As far as Viatour is concerned, I’m very disappointed in your service in that I booked a pickup schedule time to leave the hotel at 12:30. I got a notice from viatour when we arrive to the hotel in the early morning that the tour was scheduled for 930. Of course it was too early for viatour to be contacted so we finally got a hold of the tour company and they told us that the tour was in fact scheduled for 1230 and not 930. This was totally unacceptable and a mistake that should not have been made with a professional company. So overall, we got a chance to see most of the important sites in Auckland but we wasted a lot of time waiting around for the tour after hustling to get ready for the 930 noted departure. This is my first time using Viator. Again. I am very disappointed.

We Had a Bad Day - We can not recommend this company. They sent an unqualified driver who gave no commentary, made us feel uncomfortable, and when I contacted the company to relate our experience they just made excuses. Do not entrust your precious day in this gorgeous city to them.

Don't Play Russian Roulette with Your Day in Auckland - Beware this company! Sadly we must echo the sentiments of the other poor reviews below. Maybe there are some good guides, but you play Russian Roulette here. We booked our tour on Viator but the company did not deliver what they promised. We booked a tour for our travel group over 6 months in advance for our 1 day in the city. The tour promised a qualified guide with commentary. What they delivered was a very nice man who drove around, yet barely uttered 6 words over many hours. There is nothing more uncomfortable that silence over hours on what is supposed to be a guided tour. The two things he did tell our group were completely false and his few other communications were asking my guests questions about America. The most important information shared was that he usually picks guests up at the airport and brings them to their hotels: so not a guide. The pace and content of the tour was also not as listed. It was a confusing day. When we contacted the company for a partial refund, they told us we should have "called during the tour" to complain and that our driver was absolutely a trained guide, as if we had local cell service or that would have made a difference. We asked for a 25% refund, which we thought fair, and they offered us $7 per person back on 4 hour tour that cost over $100USD per person. Sorry, but they ruined our one day in Auckland. BEWARE!!!!!
