• Auckland Central - Your tour begins in New Zealand’s largest city. As we depart, your guide will introduce today’s adventure and highlight some of the city’s main attractions.
• Waikato Region - Leaving Auckland, we head south through the picturesque Waikato countryside, the world’s largest farming area. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, powerful rivers, excellent photo opportunities, beautiful mountains, and various farm animals. We pass through Taupiri, which features culturally significant sites such as local Maori burial grounds and cultural totem poles.
• Pirongia - After traveling through lush countryside and learning about local history and the New Zealand Land Wars, we stop in this charming little town for a quick coffee break.
• Otorohanga - Our journey continues into Otorohanga, known as “The Kiwiana capital of New Zealand.” Experience all things Kiwi as you explore this unique and delightful town.
• Waitomo Glowworm Caves - At our first major attraction, you’ll be guided through ancient caves with various formations like Stalactites, Stalagmites, and Lime Columns. Descend further underground for a Glowworm experience, cruising on the grotto river with thousands of Glowworms sparkling above. Unique to New Zealand for over 120 years, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves are a must-see.
• Waitomo Big Bird & Miniature Animal Petting Farm - En route to Rotorua, we stop outside Big Bird to meet some friendly local animals. Although we don’t have time to enter the park, the animals often come to the fences for photos, delighting guests.
• Te Puia - At our second major destination, Te Puia, enjoy a fully guided tour of geothermal and cultural wonders, including Pōhutu Geyser, Māori Architecture, The National Māori Arts School, geothermal craters, and the chance to see a Kiwi bird in the Kiwi viewing house.
• Rotorua - Concluding our Rotorua experience, we take a guided driving tour of the city’s most famous sites, including Lake Rotorua, Rotorua Museum, Government Gardens, Whangapipiro (Rachel Spring), and the Blue Baths. If time permits, we may visit a special souvenir shop for discounted shopping and to sample Manuka Honey.
• Auckland - Unfortunately, we must head north again, but your day isn’t over yet. Enjoy a fully guided return trip to Auckland with secret stops along the way.
