• John Bremond House - The tour begins outside the Bremond House, where you’ll hear the tale of Pierre and the ghosts that inhabit it. You’ll then be led step by step through Austin’s most haunted locations, learning about their history and ghostly legends.
• Texas Governor’s Mansion - The tour concludes at the historic governor’s mansion, one of Austin’s most significant buildings and once the residence of Sam Houston. It’s also known for its hauntings.
• Republic Square - Established in 1888, Republic Square is one of the four remaining public squares in Austin. As you explore, you’ll notice its eclectic nature, with signage highlighting its connections to Mexican and Mexican American heritage. It’s also reputed to be haunted.
• The Capital Grille - The site of the Capital Grille was originally Austin’s first railroad depot, built in 1871. This depot was vital for Austin’s growth, bringing in building supplies, raw materials, clothing, food, visitors, and new residents. Over the years, it has seen its share of chaos.
• Paramount Theatre - The Paramount has hosted performers like Orson Wells, Harry Houdini, Mae West, and Katherine Hepburn. With over 100 years of history, it has also accumulated its share of spirits.
• The Driskill - Constructed in 1886 in the Romanesque revival style by cattle rancher and Confederate colonel Jesse Driskill, this grand building is said to have been funded with blood money from the Civil War. Driskill, who made a fortune from cattle ranching and war profits, spent nearly all his wealth on this hotel and eventually lived there.
• St. David’s Episcopal Church - The ghost story linked to this church centers on Reverend Charles Gillette, who served as rector in the late 19th century. Reverend Gillette is a notable figure in the church’s history, remembered for his dedication to the congregation and his crucial role in the church’s development.
• Texas State Capitol - In 1983, a fire in the building resulted in several deaths, including a twenty-three-year-old intern who tragically burned to death. Firefighters were unable to break the window, their only entry point, and had to watch helplessly as the young man perished. Remarkably, the window survived the fire, and ever since, handprints appear on it during cold or rainy weather, despite numerous cleanings and replacements.
