Experience Austin’s winter charm with cozy tours and indoor delights. From e-bike brunches to art-filled afternoons, discover the city’s vibrant culture and culinary wonders this December weekend.
Morning Delights: Savoring Austin’s Breakfast Tacos
As the sun peeks over the horizon, Austin begins to stir with the promise of a new day. The air is crisp, and the city is alive with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling breakfast tacos. For those looking to start their day with a burst of local flavor, the E-Bike Brunch Tour is a must. Available from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both December 7th and 8th, this tour offers a unique blend of culinary exploration and urban adventure.
Imagine gliding through the heart of Austin on an e-bike, the wind in your hair as you navigate protected bike paths and scenic trails. The tour takes you past iconic landmarks like Lady Bird Lake and through vibrant neighborhoods, all while indulging in the city’s beloved breakfast tacos. Each stop is a new discovery, a chance to taste the ever-evolving food scene that Austin is famous for. As one reviewer noted on January 3, 2024:
This tour was both a great way to explore Austin’s central areas AND get a little bit of a workout in! Chris led us around the city and did a fine job of pointing out fun facts and landmarks about and around the city. We went up, over, around, and through the city from South Congress through the nature trail around the river, into downtown, over the pedestrian bridge, through Butler Park, etc. I think we totaled over 10 miles on the bike’s distance tracker. He also won us over with his selections of food spots, particularly the donut spot at the end! This was definitely worth it. Be aware though, if you aren’t a regular bike rider, be prepared to be saddle sore - the seats are NOT cushioned for the novice rider. Also, an e-bike just ASSISTS you in pedaling, like switching gears automatically. It is NOT a fully-powered bike so be prepared to do a little work!
With the weather being partly cloudy and a high of 62.1°F on December 7th, it’s the perfect day to explore the city on two wheels. Don’t forget to bring a light jacket and perhaps an umbrella, just in case.
Afternoon Adventures: Art and Architecture
As the morning gives way to afternoon, the city of Austin reveals another layer of its charm. For those with a penchant for creativity and history, the Art and Architecture Tour is an ideal choice. Available from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on December 8th, this tour is a journey through the artistic soul of Austin.
Pedal through the streets of downtown Austin, where every corner holds a story waiting to be told. From the tallest mural in the city to the historic West Austin buildings, this tour is a feast for the eyes and the imagination. The Texas State Capitol stands as a testament to the city’s rich history, while hidden art gems surprise and delight at every turn. As one reviewer shared on November 6, 2024:
Trey is an enthusiastic and creative storyteller. We really appreciated his learnings and lived experience of the rich history (and herstory) of Austin. We learned a lot about art and architecture and, as a bonus, were treated to a custom soundtrack of his favorite local bands and a list of venues, bars and restaurants to check out across the city. The bikes were great too.
With overcast skies and temperatures ranging from 41.6°F to 55.1°F on December 8th, it’s a cozy day to immerse yourself in the cultural tapestry of Austin. Dress warmly and prepare to be inspired.
