Morning walk inside the Palace - It was a fantastic morning walk to learn about the rich history of Avignon and the Palace. Our host Mathilde was great, vey knowledgeable and kept at a gentle pace. I highly recommend, even for solo travellers. Merci!

Perfect introduction to Avignon! - Emile was a fantastic guide with a lot of information that made Avignon come alive. I think understanding the history of Avignon can be difficult to understand if you don't know much about how it was established and how it became the papal seat. Emile did a great job of walking through the timeline and the history in an easily digestible format that was approachable for everyone, regardless of their level of knowledge. He did a great job of encouraging questions and keeping the tour very engaging, despite the strong winds that would have been difficult to navigate for most. He did a wonderful job of making the palace of the popes come alive, and it would not have been as enjoyable without a guide. Lastly, we enjoyed the wine tasting, which was completely unexpected but a lovely way to finish the tour. I can't recommend this tour enough, and I strongly encourage you to do it when you first arrive in Avignon so that you can make the most of your visit!

Perfect - Our guide, Nicholas, was excellent and very knowledgeable. Perfect amount of time 3 + hours plus excellent wine tasting experience (2 ample glasses) both red and white at local winery. Knowledgeable winery owner who filled us in on the regions wines. Some skipped this part. Pope Palace tour was really great too. Learned a ton about the papacy in Avignon. Nicholas was able to answer all questions. Recommend this tour.

Excellent overview of the importance of Avignon. W beautiful views - This was an awesome walking tour. The guide (Sylvia) was great. We had already been in Avignon five days when we took the tour but we learned a lot and she took us to beautiful views we wouldn’t have seen on our own. The Pope's Palace Tour was definitely worth it. Sylvia was very personable. The time went very fast. I will say that it is a walking tour and there are a lot of stairs in the Palace. Not for mobility challenged.

Excellent tour of the heart of Avignon. - While the Palace of the Popes is the focus of the tour, great attention was paid to other areas and features of Avignon. This was good. The time in the Palace was long enough for full appreciation with becoming laborious. An excellent tour with an excellent guide.

Sylvia was fantastic! Her... - Sylvia was fantastic! Her knowledge and enthusiasm about the history of Avignon and the popes brought the 13th century to life!

Not much to see, more to imagine - Our leader didn’t have a firm grasp of Popes Palace. It’s a bare place that needs stories of events and sizable photos of what experts say it looked like. Why not complete a room or two? The wine tour was very well done. Our leader did her best with Sparse material
