Highlights
  • H35 - You will head over to the stables to meet your horse to saddle up for your daily trekking. You will ride through cultivated fields to Ardvi hamlet surrounded with wooded slopes. Here you will be invited to taste local fruits and some juice and visit Srbanes monastery of the 8th century, perched on the upper hillside of the hamlet. Riding down the hill you will get to Snake Navel rocks. You may choose to take a sip of healthy water flowing out of rocks or just wash your hands and face. Afterwards, your trails will take you through ancient Odzun road to the basilica style church of Odzun. The church was founded in the 6th century and gained its present appearance after the reconstruction in 8th century. After touring the church, you will continue along the edge of the plateau promising picturesque over the Debed Canyon. On the way you will visit the monastic complex of Horomayr, located at the edge of the rocky cliff. The area was inhabited since prehistoric times and considered to be a sacred place since the 7th century. From here on your rides, apparently accompanied by predatory birds will take you back to the stable.

Historical Trail Ride is a horseback riding tour between medieval monasteries of Odzun, Horomayr, and Ardvi.
If you are new to riding, you will get a half-an-hour horse riding lesson, then you can take beginner-friendly trail rides that will teach you to walk and trot at the beginning of the tour. If you’re a professional rider, you can experience the exhilaration of trail rides in naturally beautiful environments.

Head to Alaverdi town from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, or from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Get to the city market of Alaverdi (Tumanyan Street) and you will be transferred to the stable, or take Alaverdi - Odzun road and get to Odzun village and continue 5km on the main road.

Amazing experience - Our guide Saro was fantastic. We took in breathtaking views of the landscape, our guide gave us lots of interesting information along the way, lunch was delicious, and our horses were very good. Would recommend. 5 stars!

Good vibes in a horse - The guide was nice. We had coffee with a local guy on the top of the valley. Was a nice experience and I recommend to everyone. Though the trip description did not match the actual trip, we had still lots of fun.

Horse riding - Fantastic landscape. Guide was helpful and was fluent in english. Great to see Monestary. Great experience. However The horses was not really fit and we had to walk much of the distance. Also there was much garbage on the trail....
