Highlights

Azores Whale Watching TERRA AZUL - The journey starts with a short informative briefing introducing to Cetacean (Whales and Dolphins) local species, their migrational and behavioral patterns, and onboard safety.

Follow the Guide and Skipper to your designated boat, and go out to sea. Our lookout high inland will locate our friends, and provide directions via VHF Radio to where the boat may will travel initially at high speed.

Marine Wildlife can be observed yearlong. Sperm Whales are resident alongside 3 additional cetacean species and an abundant marine biodiversity.

While carefully approaching our friends your Guide will keep you informed, collect field imagery and data for local research, and is always available throughout the tour to provide answers to any specific questions - feel free to ask.

Upon return to the Marina, the boat will tour around the Princess Ring Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, for a close look at the volcanic marvel and resident wildlife.

Know before you go - eat light, bring your personal water supply, sunscreen and chapstick, and warm clothing. Light food is permitted , and camera is essential, especially for photography lovers - protect any personal equipment.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT it is not possible to control animals’ behavior in the wild, or to guarantee that you will see a specific species at a specific time frame.
NOT FOR anyone pregnant, with weak back, in wheelchair or any delicate health conditions, or under the age of 4.

From Ponta Delgada city centre by auto, head East by the coast following directions to Vila Franca do Campo. Once here, descend towards sea level and the Marina’s first Pier A where our Base and Yellow Zodiac Boats are stationed, and free parking can be found. (GPS: 37.715780, -25.429745)

Great experience in Sao Miguel - They're very well organized, the explanations were clear and informative about the real possibilities of seeing the fauna. The boat driver was very capable and the lady explaining the sightings was very knowledgeable. They were very attentive to let us see the dolphins without bothering them for too long. They have a system for sighting the animals from vantage points so it's very likely you'll see something. We'll gladly do that again.

Amazing! And more then expected - The reason to go to the Azores was to seek humpback whales again. And so we did. The experience and guide Stephanie was by far the best (compared to Iceland, Norway and New Zealand in a period of 20 years). Guide Stephanie made sure everyone could see what was happening at all times (including the little ones), and explained marine life in a -very- pleasant way. Not just the obvious, but with some really interesting details in a way everybody could understand. We learned a lot! And this was not expected by us, but also made the trip! We got time to observe a humpback and her child, saw lots of dolphins and even a sea turtle. So go do this trip! It’s the best, really. PS also a bonus, they combine tours with research and follow high standard in whale watching tours. Also something to consider if you are curious about ocean life.

Must have made - we had a wonderful tour and were able to observe dolphins and several sperm whales. Our skipper and our guide were very attentive and led the tour great!!!

Awesome trip - The staff were really professional and welcoming. The boat was modern and in good condition. The life jackets were modern and clean. More importantly, we had a lot of fun and saw three separate species. Amongst that we also saw a sperm whale with a new born. They were very respectful of the animals, yet we got to see these magnificent animals up close. Would recommend this team.

Totally happy client - We saw spotted atlantic dolphins, at least 4 sperm whales and a pod of bottle nose dolphins. Boat ride was really fun and did not feel queasy at all. Trip around the Islet also very beautiful. Skipper and guide were excellent. They have spotters onshore guiding the Skipper to the right location for seeing whales. Completely satisfied with whole experience. Parking is pretty wild any spot on the sidewalk is apparently fine. Give yourself a few extra minutes to park and use the wc which is a short walk from Terra Azul. Snackbar/cafe at Marina was good for post ride rehydration.

Beautiful and peaceful - Experience best described as beautiful and peaceful, super informative guide and skipper, great value for money, very well ran experience. We saw spotted & bottle nose dolphins with their young and followed some pilot whales....the only way to see animals!!

Solid Tour! - Solid tour! We saw tons of dolphins, but no whales unfortunately. I understand the tour group has no control over whether you see them or not (obviously)- but the guides didn’t even mention whales while out on the water! We read lots of great reviews prior to booking - but whenever we arrived the instructors told us to “lower our expectations” - overall it was a solid tour though. The dolphins we saw were amazing- I guess we were just unlucky and got a day with no whale sightings.

Was not able to see any Whales - It was disappointing that we didn’t see any whales. Most of the time during the tour was spent seeing Dolphins. Staff were very courteous and efficient. No hotel pick up was available and had to take a taxi back and forth from Ponta Delgado which made the trip expensive. It would have been worth it ,if I was able to see any whale.
