The shrine is a much appreciated place among Gipuzkoans, with the Virgin of Arantzazu being the sanctuary’s namesake and patron saint of the province along with Ignatius of Loyola.

This tour traces the journey of St. Ignatius from his birth to the establishment of the Society of Jesus. We will explore the magnificent Basilica of Loiola (constructed in the 18th century) and visit Saint Ignatius’ family home and birthplace in Loiola, Azpeitia. The tour also includes a stop at the hermitage of La Antigua in Zumarraga, a site visited by Saint Ignatius during his pilgrimage, and the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, situated in a stunning gorge and rebuilt in the 1950s, showcasing some of the finest modern religious art and earning several international awards.

Note: From November 1 to April 16, La Antigua hermitage is open only on weekends. If the tour is booked on a weekday during this period, it will instead visit the San Telmo hermitage in Zumaia.
