Safe and Professional Riders - We booked the Hue to Phong Nha tour.
Our Riders were Quynh and Hung, they were both great and safe riders. Any nerves that we felt, immediately vanished once we were on the bikes and on our way.
Their English is good, they were fun, helpful and respectful and they pointed out and explained interesting sites along the way.
I highly recommend Phong Nha Motorbike Tour.
I found it best to contact them through WhatsApp

Vietnam Motorcycle From Phong Nha-Khe Sanh-Da Nang - Hoi An (December 2024) - In December 2024, three of us set off on a memorable motorcycle journey through Vietnam. Our goal was to experience the country in a way that felt authentic to the locals, so we decided to explore on motorbikes, despite one of us not having a motorcycle license. Our trip was designed with flexibility in mind, allowing us to stop and enjoy the sights at our own pace. Our route was planned as follows: Phong Nha – Khe Sanh – Hue (with a two-day break), then Hue to Danang (another two-day break), and finally Danang to Hoi An.
We were provided with 150cc Yamaha bikes and an automatic for the rider without a license, which worked perfectly for our needs.
First Route: Phong Nha to Khe Sanh (via the Ho Chi Minh Trail)
Our journey started with a scenic ride from Phong Nha to Khe Sanh, following the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail. The winding roads took us through the breathtaking Phong Nha Ke-Banh forest, where we often found ourselves completely alone on the road—just us and the beauty of the surroundings. As we approached Khe Sanh, the scenery only got more stunning. This part of the trip lasted about 8-9 hours, with a one-hour break at Anh-Thu restaurant. The food here was unforgettable; we had the best fried rice we’ve ever tasted, prepared by an ethnic minority woman. We spent the rest of our trip trying (and failing) to find a similar dish anywhere else!
Second Route: Khe Sanh to Hue
On the second leg of our trip, our guide Quynh took us to the Khe Sanh museum, where we explored reconstructed US bunkers and trenches, as well as displays of ordnance, captured American tanks, and aircraft. The museum was a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam's military history. Afterward, we hopped back on the bikes, though none of us were hungry for breakfast. Quynh knew just what we needed and took us to try Vietnamese salted coffee—a unique and refreshing experience.
We then made our way toward the DMZ zone to visit the Hiền Lương Bridge, a significant site marking the old division between North and South Vietnam. Our next stop was along the coastline on QL49B, where we ate seafood at a local restaurant perched above the water. The rain started to fall, but Quynh was well-prepared, ensuring we had rain gear to stay dry. As the evening approached, we continued our ride to Hue, arriving after three hours on the road.
Third Route: Hue to Danang
After a restful two-day stay in Hue, we were excited to hit the road again. This route was particularly memorable, as it took us from Hue to Danang through the stunning 21-kilometer Hai Van Pass. We knew it would be an adventure, but we didn’t anticipate just how much would happen on this leg of the journey.
Despite the heavy rain in the morning, we jumped on our bikes, and Quynh made sure we were properly equipped with raincoats, gloves, and helmets. The first part of the ride took us through flooded rice fields, which at first glance appeared to be vast lakes. Quynh expertly guided us through the narrow roads, stopping frequently so we could take in the views.
Then, the unexpected happened: one of the bikes refused to start. But Quynh handled it like a true professional. He asked our unlicensed friend to sit on his scooter while he pushed the stalled bike with his own motorcycle. They traveled at 40 km/h for about 10 kilometers before stopping at a repair shop, where the mechanic fixed the issue in under two minutes with a quick spray of WD40. It was remarkable to see how smoothly Quynh managed the situation, and we were back on the road in no time.
Later, while cruising along the Hai Van Pass, we witnessed a woman riding too quickly downhill, which caused her bike to fall into a roadside drainage ditch. Quynh immediately stopped to help, pulling the bike out of the ditch and repairing the broken mirrors. He ensured she was okay, and after a quick check, we all continued our ride, albeit with a little more caution.
Arriving in Danang, I had the unfortunate experience of running out of gas. I quickly texted Quynh, and within 10 minutes, he came back to refuel my bike with a 2-liter water bottle. Talk about going the extra mile! After this small mishap, we finally made it back to our hotel in Danang, where we handed the bikes back to Quynh.
Fourth Route: Danang to Hoi An
After two days of rest and exploring Danang, we were ready for the final stretch of our journey. The weather, however, had other plans, as heavy rain and dark skies set in. Our non licence friend, ever the optimist, suggested we kill some time by playing pool at a local spot. We were all surprised to discover that Quynh was quite skilled at snooker, and we spent a few hours enjoying the game while waiting for the weather to improve.
Sadly, the rain didn’t let up, so we decided to head out to visit My Son Sanctuary and Marble Mountain despite the wet conditions. The rain was relentless, so after a quick visit to Marble Mountain and a few touristy photos, we opted to skip My Son Sanctuary in favor of heading back to Hoi An before it got too dark and treacherous.
Through it all, Quynh ensured our safety and comfort, guiding us through the wet weather and the winding roads to get us safely back to Hoi An.
Overall
This motorcycle adventure was truly unforgettable, and much of that can be credited to Quynh’s excellent guidance. His deep knowledge of the country, organizational skills, and calm demeanor during the many little challenges we faced on the road made the trip enjoyable and stress-free. He balanced the right amount of adventure with history, culture, and local cuisine, which made this trip feel like a truly immersive experience.
Quynh’s attention to detail, whether it was ensuring we were properly geared up for the rain or helping with a stalled bike, made us feel safe and well-cared for throughout the journey. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an authentic experience, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.
If you’re looking for an adventure in Vietnam and want to experience the country in a way that most tourists don’t, I highly recommend contacting Quynh for a motorcycle tour. He’ll ensure you have an adventure that you’ll never forget, all while riding through some of the most beautiful and historical landscapes in the world.

Incredible experience - So beautiful and seemingly untouched through the HCMT. All you’ve read is true and what really made the trip extra special was my driver, Khanh. He had a great attitude, an infectious laugh and was always looking for ways to make my trip even more memorable. He found the hidden waterfall in a small village we passed through and knew the stops to make for that perfect photo op. I can’t recommend him enough if you are considering this ride.

It was an extraordinary journey. - It all started with an unsurprising train delay, and I was anxious on the train thinking ‘Being two hours late is no joke, maybe we'll have to figure out how to get to the halfway point on our own, or maybe they'll cancel the trip’. But Toan and Hung said they could ride their motorcycle to the station, wait for us, and even buy us breakfast, which was the beginning of our amazing journey.
We learned about history, biology, and humanities. Apart from the Khe Sanh and Vinh Moc Tunnel that you can see on the website, we also traveled on the Ho Chi Minh trail and visited local tribal villages. The feeling of traveling through the mountains was special, and when we got especially close to the border, my mobile phone even received a telecom message from Laos.
Most importantly, Toan and Hung were very friendly helpful, and well prepared. My friend and I had a lot of fun on this trip, and recommend them to any travelers interested in nature and humanities, they'll make you have an extraordinary trip.

Just do it !!!! - Well what can I say we enjoyed the best 2 days with Quynh and Oonvg. We were picked in in phong nha and headed off they turned into be the best 2 days of my travel here in Vietnam. The mountains and valleys on the first day were simply incredible. We were up amongst the clouds at times. We both felt really safe on the back of the bikes, they were excellent riders. Day 2 took us from the mountains to the coast and along the coast making stops along the way. It’s a great way to see Vietnam and visit sights along the way. The Ho Chi Minh trail, vinh muc tunnels, fishing villages, the boys both had great personalities and spoke excellent English. I would do this your in a heartbeat. I am 57 and my husband 59 and we had no issues. Just do it !!!

Epic 2 day tour - Quynh and Oong were our epic riders who picked us up in Phong Nha. We didn’t realise how much fun was going to be had over the next 2 days. The scenery is stunning going through mountains, valleys, across rivers, through villages. we stopped often to stretch our legs and get coffees and food. Quynh and Oong speak very good english and have great sense of humour. The memories will be everlasting thanks to these 2 legends.

Do it before it’s too late! - What a great ride to Khe San from Phong Nha returning to Hue on day 2.
I felt very safe riding pillion with Quynh while my husband rode solo. I appreciated that Quynh kept a constant eye on my husband to check he was going ok. Our small bags were able to be strapped on the back of Quinh’s bike. He wrapped them well in plastic and supplied us with rain gear which luckily we were soon able to shed.
The 2 days were jam packed and we appreciated the nice hotel stay at Khe San. Quynh was very knowledgeable and happy to stop and answer questions or take photos.
The trip of a lifetime along the Ho Chi Minh Trail with more wandering cows than traffic and jaw dropping scenery at every twist and turn.

4 days bike ride through vietnam !!! - Experience of a lifetime !!! Anyone who rides a motorbike and loves to explore this is a must thing to do !!! Quynh our guide is an amazing person and friend. We had 2 bikes which were well maintained and he took our luggage on his bike. My advice is to come with a duffel bag so it's easier to load. The first day we rode from phong na to keh sahn. Second day to hue. Then to quang and finally to hoi an. We ride through some beautiful roads and jungles with lush greenery. Quynh made sure we were safe throughout the ride and took us to all the historical sights. This company takes care of the stay in very clean and fantastic home stays so you can try the local food (which you have to cause it's fantastic) Ive always wanted to do this ride and trust me when I say that it's beats all of my expectations!!

Beautiful ride through the central part of Vietnam, even in the rain. - A highlight of my three weeks in Vietnam and a memory I will cherish. The three gents who drove us from Phoung Nha to Hue took excellent care of us and made sure we were as comfortable and dry as possible on a couple rainy days. The drivers were also very concerned with our safety. Great experience and one I highly recommend!
