- Pompey’s Pillar - A massive 30m column looms over the debris of the glorious ancient settlement of Rhakotis, the original township from which Alexandria grew. TOUR OF ALEXANDRIA’S TOP SIGHTS BEGINNING IN ALEXANDRIA
At 9:00 am, you will be picked up from your hotel in Alexandria by our licensed tour guide. You will then begin your full-day excursion to some of Alexandria’s finest locations. Starting with the new library of Alexandria, which is the world’s largest library housing 8 million books, and the ancient lighthouse site, a marvel of the ancient world. You will also explore the Palaces of Farouk, Egypt’s last monarch. Next, the tour takes you to the Pompey’s pillar, vestiges of Alexandria’s ancient library, followed by the Roman amphitheater, and the open-air museum for submerged exhibits. The Catacombs, an amalgamation of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art dating back to the 3rd century, is your next stop. For lunch, we will have a break at the top sea view restaurant in Alexandria where a full meal is offered for each individual, excluding beverages.
