Make time to see these three sites - We had a great day, going to Sakkara, Dashur, and Memphis with our tour guide Hosni. He was friendly and professional. The sites themselves were awesome. We went into a couple of the pyramids, which was a really awesome experience. The bent pyramid takes some work, but was worth the effort. You climb down a ways, then go up steps at two different points, then crawl through a tunnel. It is manageable though, even if you are a little out of shape. It is not nearly as hot nor as crowded as the great pyramid. Definitely worth exploring.
All three of the sites were fascinating and well worth spending the day to do these three rather than cramming them into one of the tours that also do the pyramids. Do this tour instead of one of those.
Hosni also took us to lunch at a restaurant that seems to cater to tour groups. The hospitality and people were warm and friendly. The food was good. The price was $15 USD per person plus drink prices and tip, which is high compared to other restaurants in Egypt, but is average for lunch out in the US. It seems most of the tours we went on had the same food- the mixed grill with accompaniments. I wish we had been able to try a greater variety of food during our time here, but I think they select restaurants that can serve a lot of tourists, which makes sense. The only real drawback was that we were told they accept credit cards but after eating, they said their card reader didn’t work and asked us first to pay in US dollars (most people in the US don’t even carry cash at home, since we use cards or tap our phones to pay everywhere, and we wouldn’t expect to use USD in a foreign country, so didn’t bring much at all). After we told them we have Egyptian Pounds, they went and recalculated and came back with the total in EGP. It all worked out, but felt a little chaotic. So, if you are booking after reading this, bring extra USD.
We were also taken to a carpet school. We already did something similar on tour in Morocco, so I didn’t really want to go, but this one was more informative. You really do learn a lot. They also did not pressure us at all.
The overall tour was great and I would recommend this tour and Hosni. You will learn a lot about the sites and enjoy your day with him.

The building blocks of the Giza pyramids - This was our second tour with Zazou and his skillful driver, Ehad.
On Tuesday, my adult daughter and I had a wonderful tour of the Giza pyramids and the new Grand Egyptian Museum.
We mentioned to Zazou that we wanted to go to Saqqara, Dashur and Memphis the following day. He said he was available, and we were thrilled. Zazou is a polite, friendly and accommodating guide, who went out of his way to ensure we had a good time. As a trained Egyptologist, he has a vast knowledge of Egyptian history, and he was eager to share that knowledge.
We had a wonderful time visiting the Saqqara and Dashun pyramids that were the building blocks of the Giza pyramids. This area is much, much quieter than Giza, and the tour felt very intimate. We strongly recommend it. Ask for Zazou!

Great day in Saqqara, Dashur and Memphis - My son and I really enjoyed the day with our guide Zizou and our driver Mahmoud! Zizou took a lot of time to tell us about the history of the Pharaoh Empire and the individual sights and also gave us insights into Egyptian mythology. There was a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere all day, and I would recommend this tour to anyone! We had a great day.

Fantastic day of exploration and history. Highly recommend. - Mohamed Gomaa was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic. He explained the history of all the sites plus was around for help whenever we needed it. We highly recommend him. The sites we visited were absolutely amazing. This was a great way to see Saqqara in more depth.

Fantastic tour with Mohamed Gomaa - Highly recommend seeing the stepped pyramid and bent pyramid to understand the evolution of these amazing tombs. Mohamed Gomaa was an amazing guide giving us broad overviews of Egyptian history as well as the key details of each site. He recommended fascinating extras to visit like going inside the Unas pyramid with a more accessible entrance to see a burial chamber with alabaster and the bull catacombs with the enormous granite bull sarcophagi. Based on his recommendation, I just booked another day tour with Deluxe Travel to see Coptic Cairo!

Incredible tour and phenomenal guide! - What an incredible experience and start to my Egypt trip!
The visits to all 3 locations were spectacular. Seeing the Step pyramid, the very first pyramid to be built, up close, was just incredible. At the same site, going to the Pyramid of Unas and down into the burial chamber was mind blowing - seeing real hieroglyphs in person for the first time was quite emotional - this is a must visit! We then went to to an additional stop at the Serapeum which contains 24 tombs/sarcophagi of what would have held sacred bulls. The size of these is insane - how they got down there is mind boggling.
Onwards to Dahshur, the Bent pyramid and Red pyramid were stunning to see up close. Going inside both of these pyramids is one heck of a workout, but totally worth it - with considerably smaller crowds vs the giza complex, it was quite easy to navigate, having only needing to wait for other visitors once or twice. There's nothing to see inside, but it gives you another perspective of the work that went into building these grand structures.
Finally our visit to what was Memphis, and the open air museum was brilliant and a great way to round off the day.
Nothing on this day would have been nearly as enjoyable if it wasnt for my spectacular guide, Mohamed. From the get go when I was picked up at my hotel, I was just astounded by the amount of knowledge he had to share, and not just about ancient Egypt, but it's entire history up to the modern day.
He had incredible knowledge about everything we looked at, and had answers to all my questions.
Mohamed was also kind to step in as my personal photographer and made sure I had the perfect photo at every site.
He even gave me recommendations for the rest of my stay in Egypt!
I can't recommend this tour enough, and if you have Mohamed as your guide, it will be one of the best days of your travelling experience.

Don’t miss the old pyramid - Hosni was the perfect guide for our trip through the old pyramids. Everyone goes to Giza when in Egypt, but don’t miss out on the Stone Step and Bent Pyramids along with the wonderful tomb carvings.

If you want an egiptologist tour guide, go with them - Mahmoud Badr was extremely knowledgeable on the egyptian history. He took his time explaining the backstory of the site we were going to visit on the drive there. It was as if I was getting a lecture from a professor. He simplified things for us and helped us connect the dots so that we can better understand what we were looking at. I would definitely recommend this tour with him.
