Authentic and Genuine - Cooking and the People. - Kia ora - an amazing interactive and fun experience starting at the market, tasting, checking out different foods before we even get to the compound. Roni has a great sense of humour too! We were invited to sit with his family and he explained how the compound was set out, family grouping - an experience on culture. Sitting amongst the beautiful sculptures and just enjoying being there. The beautiful trees, gardens and fish that provides for them, which is wonderful to experience before we moved into the cookery class. Love the open air feel of the class. This is a hands-on experience, working together, and Roni has a great sense of humour and his team were super on to it. I do admit, the taste testing, plus the morning market had us kind of semi full. We sat down to our meal with humbleness, being grateful and enjoying the opportunity to be sharing in the life of Roni and his family.

So Professional - I had the best day here. - I am so pleased I booked this cookery course. Everything was perfect. If you are staying near Ubud the price includes driver pick-up, but as soon as you arrive, everything is ready and prepared for you. They take time to explain what you will cook, introduce you to the fabulous array of ingredients then take you through the dishes in a careful, planned and timely way. Always sure to get you to wash hands reguarly which is essential. I think it was 6 dishes in all and you come home with their personal recipes to take home to try to re-creat the magic! But I think it is best to come back and book again and soak up the serene setting where they are located and do it all again!! Once finished cooking you take a seat and the team beautifully present your meal on a tray and you get to eat and enjoy your home made meal. What is not to love about that?! Lots of fun and laughter along the way. A small but great team, today with Ron and Putri and the lovely kitchen fairy who is cleaning up after you as you go along. Just brilliant. Such good value. Thank you team x They absolutely deserve their 100% 5* reviews.

Rainy Day delight: an authentic Balinese experience - We had the cooking experience as last minute because it was raining so hard that morning thankfully they were able to accomosate us. We were greeted to a traditional Balinese compound, and was lucky enough to watch a ceromony during that time. They showed us the structure of Balinese compound before being greeted with welcome food and drinks We were also shown their small farm before going to the cooking area. During cooking we were shown traditional Balinese techniques to do traditional Balinese food. we made salad, meat ball soup, sambal, rendang on lemongrass skewers, and fish in bamma leaves. The food was really flavorful and they'll help you every step of the way. It's the perfect activity to do on a rainy day and to learn about culture food and a good time. The hosts were funny and engaging and has a good grasp of English. 100% recommended. If you're looking for culture and authentic food. Lesung (which means mortar and pestle in the dialect) is a great choice.

Great experience with super people! - This cooking class was a great experience and Ron and the team were super, making it so fun and enjoyable. The begining with tea/coffee and introduction is really nice, the class is great with lots of explanations around the dishes and good variety! Very manageable and staff always there to help. The location of the class is beautiful and set outside (covered) but open and looking out to green space and they have their own gardens where they grow lots of the ingredients. The tour of the local house and an insight into the family life and how everything works is great too!! Also getting the menu afterwards and all of the recipes is a nice touch. Thank you for an excellent experience! 10/10 would recommend!

Good value, fun, very tasty cooking class - This was probably the most interesting experience I've had during several trips to Bali. After being picked up from the hotel (on time) and visiting the morning market, we entered a typical Bali house "compound", where the host Ron explained about Balinese family, culture, life, and death, and answered our questions. He speaks good English and has a nice sense of humor. Walking around the garden, it was great to see local vegetables, spice plants and fruit trees - finally saw what mangosteens grow on. The food preparation and eating is under cover in the garden, so it is not hot and sweaty. We made 6 dishes including dessert, ingredients already laid out, by his two helpers, we just followed his instructions for preparing and cooking. I have zero cooking skills but it was made so easy! And the resulting food tasted fantastic, designed not too spicy for westerners, with meat fresh from a supermarket (ie safe), and everything kept very clean to avoid Bali Belly. There are many "cooking class" tours, but I can't imagine how any could be better than Ron's Lesung Bali. Tip - skip breakfast so you can enjoy eating all the food you'll cook.
