Great experience with Surya - Surya was amazing, he was very flexible and was able to pick us up after a shopping trip - rather than our hotel. He took us to a local Bali coffee place which was amazing - the coffee was delicious! Surya joined us in the temple and was able to keep the monkeys at bay, as we saw them take lots of glasses and items off people. We had a great time! We highly recommend Surya!

Great experience - Really enjoyed this experience! It was becaustiful at the temple! Surya was very kind and gracious and provided information about the temple. He also helped us navigate the cheeky monkeys. I realky enjoyed the fire dance and learning more about the oldest temple in Bali. Highly recommend!

Not 100% worth it - The dance started with them chanting around fire. There is a scene where fire gets kicked around and that’s the coolest part. They’re mainly telling a story from India. While this was cool, I wouldn’t say it was 100% worth it. We came come Seminyak and spent 4.5 hours just driving. The actual fire dance was only 1 hour. I was thankful it wasn’t longer because they pack us into that stadium like sardines and it’s so hot! I’d definitely skip if you’re coming from Seminyak. Traffic is brutal

Just an Okay experience - While we enjoyed the Kecak dance, our overall experience was just okay. Our driver was not able to tell us anything about the temple, didn’t offer us water at the stadium (we had to ask) and was texting while driving. The monkeys at the temple were a bit aggressive, taking glasses right off people’s noses. Unfortunately (not aviator’s fault) it was overcast, so we weren’t able to get good sunset pictures.

Overrated experience - Overcrowded - Terrible traffic to get to site - over an hour on bad roads - and return was equally terrible. Very hard uncomfortable seating Guides had not prepurchased tickets so lots of hanging around waiting. Monkeys at temple were obnoxious and dangerous. No reserved seating - dangerous crowding with no way of moving after seated. Only the monkey dancer was worth watching! Better described as a pantomime with boring chanting.

Below Expectations - Our driver took us to the temple, he was early to pick us up and a good driver. The tour description on TripAdvisor states we would get a Balinese cultural walk and talk through the temple, the driver didn’t speak to us about anything and just showed us the way around the temple. After walking to 3 spots to take photos, he then gave us our tickets to the show. The show stadium is ridiculous the way they pack it in, you are squished in next to thousands of people for this show, and they were still squishing people into the pathways and exits on the ground throughout the show. The show itself was interesting, you need to follow along on the sheet they give you to understand it fully. It was good to see, an experience for sure, but would definitely not do it again. After the show, the driver took us back to the hotel, on the tour description it says he would offer a dinner spot at personal expense, but he didn’t mention any intent to stop. Overall, the driver (Ketut Purnama) needs a little more experience about the temple so he is able to discuss things with tourists, aswell as knowing the details of what the tour states guests are paying for. We drove 1.5hr from Seminyak to get to this show. So all up it was a 3hr transit for a couple of temple photos and a 40min show, if you are staying in Uluwatu then it’s worth checking out if you want to deal with the insane amount of people, however it’s not worth a long drive that’s for sure.
