A Journey to the Heart of Costa Rica

As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves and soaking up the sun along the coasts of Central America. But every now and then, I crave a different kind of adventure, one that takes me away from the ocean and into the heart of the land. That’s how I found myself in Bagaces, Costa Rica, ready to explore the Miravalles Volcano and its surrounding natural wonders.

The day began with a gentle river float down the Corobici River, a serene experience that offered a unique perspective of Costa Rica’s lush landscapes. As we drifted along the calm waters, I couldn’t help but marvel at the vibrant wildlife that called this place home. From colorful parrots to playful monkeys, the river was alive with the sounds and sights of nature. It was a refreshing change from the roar of the ocean waves, and I found myself completely immersed in the tranquility of the moment.

Embracing the Earth’s Warm Embrace

After the river float, we made our way to the Las Hornillas Volcano Hot Springs, a place where the earth’s raw power is on full display. The air was thick with the scent of sulfur, and the ground beneath our feet was warm to the touch. As we approached the active crater, I was struck by the sight of bubbling mud pots and steaming fumaroles. It was a reminder of the incredible forces at work beneath the earth’s surface, and I felt a deep sense of awe and respect for the natural world.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the volcanic mud bath. As I slathered the warm, mineral-rich mud over my skin, I could feel the stress and tension of everyday life melting away.
