Setting Sail to Paradise

The sun was just beginning to rise as I found myself boarding a sleek powerboat, ready to leave the bustling shores of Nassau behind. The promise of a private island adventure in the Exuma chain was too tempting to resist. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves, but this time, I was ready to dive into a different kind of oceanic thrill.

The boat crew welcomed us with warm smiles and a laid-back vibe that instantly put everyone at ease. The journey to Allens Cay was smooth, the sea breeze a gentle reminder of why I love island life. Our first stop was to feed the endangered iguanas, a unique experience that had me grinning from ear to ear. I couldn’t help but chuckle when a feisty little iguana decided to nip at my finger, mistaking it for a grape. The crew was quick to assist, offering bandaids and good-natured jokes to lighten the moment.

Island Bliss and Piggy Paddles

Arriving at Ship Channel Cay, our private island for the day, felt like stepping into a postcard. The turquoise waters and pristine sands were a surfer’s dream, even if the waves were gentle. The crew had set up loungers along the beach, and with a rum punch in hand, I settled in to soak up the sun.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the swimming pigs. These charming creatures were brought out to the beach, and their playful antics had everyone laughing.
