Island Hopping Bliss: A Morning Adventure in Seychelles
Eager to explore the wonders of Curieuse and St Pierre islands, I embarked on a half-day tour that promised adventure and relaxation. With a friendly guide and pristine waters, the experience was nothing short of magical.
Setting Sail to Curieuse Island
The morning sun was just beginning to cast its golden glow over the turquoise waters as I boarded the boat at Dream Yacht Marina. The anticipation of exploring Curieuse and St Pierre islands was palpable, and I was eager to see what adventures awaited. Our guide, Nicolai, greeted us with a warm smile and a wealth of knowledge about the islands. His easy-going nature made the journey feel like a casual outing with an old friend.
As we cruised towards Curieuse Island, the gentle sea breeze and the rhythmic lapping of the waves set the perfect tone for the day. The boat was in pristine condition, a testament to the care and attention given to ensuring a smooth ride. Upon arrival at Baie Laraie beach, we were welcomed by the sight of giant Aldabra tortoises roaming freely. These gentle giants, with their ancient, wise eyes, seemed to embody the timeless beauty of the island.
Hiking Through Mangroves and History
After spending some time with the tortoises, it was time to embark on the hike across Curieuse Island. The trail wound through lush mangroves, offering glimpses of the island’s diverse flora and fauna. The hike was invigorating, with each step revealing stunning vistas and the occasional rustle of wildlife hidden in the underbrush.
The path led us to Anse Jose, a pristine white sandy beach that seemed like a slice of paradise. Here, we took a moment to soak in the sun and enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters. The Doctor’s House Museum was a fascinating stop, offering insights into the island’s history and its past as a leprosy colony. It was a poignant reminder of the island’s rich and complex heritage.
Snorkeling at St Pierre
With the hike behind us, we boarded the boat once more and set off for St Pierre Island. This tiny islet, with its iconic granite boulders and swaying coconut palms, promised an unforgettable snorkeling experience. As I slipped into the water, I was greeted by a vibrant underwater world teeming with life.
The visibility was excellent, allowing us to fully appreciate the colorful coral reefs and the myriad of fish darting around. It was a mesmerizing experience, one that left me feeling deeply connected to the ocean and its wonders. After an hour of snorkeling, we returned to the boat for some soft drinks and a light snack, savoring the tranquility of the moment.
As we made our way back to the marina, I couldn’t help but reflect on the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation that the morning had offered. The Half Day Island Tour was a delightful escape, leaving me with the afternoon free to continue exploring or simply unwind. It’s a journey I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a taste of island life.
