Traverse through desert patches, rocky hills, ocean cliffs, sandy beaches, and intertidal zones, all offering breathtaking views! The hike concludes at Tecolote beach, where lunch and relaxation await until 3 pm. Tandem sit-on-top kayaks are used, and life jackets are provided. The kayaks are suitable for individuals weighing up to 90 kilos. The day ends with a delightful lunch featuring local and fresh ceviche at the beach. Vegan options are available upon request! This adventure requires an intermediate fitness level, and booking on non-windy days is recommended.
Please note that a car or taxi is necessary for this adventure! Let us know if assistance is needed in coordinating a pickup with a trusted taxi. Transportation from downtown La Paz is 1200 pesos per car.

While Balandra beach is open to all, there is more to it than the primary beach that most tourists are familiar with. During this excursion, we’ll guide you through the intricate details and elevated viewpoints of Balandra, offering you insight into the local history and the area’s fauna. All our tour leaders are bilingual and have substantial experience as marine biologists.

A Playa Balandras
We'll meet at the queue to enter Balandra at 7:40 am. Since only a certain amount of people are allowed in at 8 am, we need to get on line in time in order to be allowed in.
Your guides will be there in a Honda Pilot with kayaks tied on top.

Best tour in La Paz - Shoutout to Alberto and Checo! The day started with kayaking through the beautiful mangroves, followed by snorkeling in the bay and hiking up to take in the stunning views. We ended the day at Tecolote Beach for lunch. Alberto and Checo were incredibly knowledgeable, super cool, and, most importantly, amazing guides! The small size group makes every minute of the experience a quality time!

Perfect tour - don’t miss this gem! - Everything was perfect! Amazing day, great guides and small groups.
Everything was organized very well, the food is great and you get a lot of knowledge about the area and animals. It is organized in a very conscious way, they make sure that everything is in harmony with nature and that you act in a sustainable way.
Highly recommended and for sure the best tour operator in this area.

Balandra kayak, snorkel and hike. Stunning views, immersed in nature, a quiet location - We had an incredible day with guides Roberto and Alex. Balandra is a stunning location with amazing views. The entire trip was very professionally done. Kayaking in mangroves was lovely. We saw many species of birds. The snorkel was also spectacular. Alex was very knowledgeable during our hike, teaching us a lot of information about the local flora and fauna. The food afterwards was also very fresh and delicious. We highly recommend!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE IN BALANDRA AND TELECOTE - If you’re looking for the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation in La Paz, I cannot recommend this excursion enough!
My day started with a breathtaking excursion at Playa Balandra and kayaking into the mangroves Balandra is often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico. Alejandro and Alberto were our guides, and they were absolutely incredible. From the moment we hit the water in our kayaks, Alberto made sure we felt safe and comfortable while sharing fascinating insights about the area. The turquoise water was so clear you could see every fish swimming beneath you, and the surrounding scenery was like something out of a dream. They even pointed out the iconic mushroom rock, a must-see!
After working up an appetite on the water, some people went on with an amazing hike but we headed to Telecote Beach for a ceviche lunch and beautiful ocean views. Let me just say—this was the freshest, most delicious ceviche I’ve ever had and the most turquoise clear ices waters I have ever seen.
A big thank you to Alejandro and Alberto for making this such a memorable experience!

Wonderful everything - One of the best activities I've ever done!! The two guides who accompanied us were super trained and friendly, the activity allows to see the best of Balandra beach, in a very different perspective than what is done on a boat visit.

Amazing time! - Amazing hosts! Had a wonderful fun filled day taking in the views and hearing about the area’s history and marine biology. Also, the ceviches were really good. Hope to come back soon and do a different tour.

So much fun! - Had a mad Mexican travel adventure with Sergio and Alejandro hiking Balandra then to El Tecolote which included a first for me, an open water swim, snorkel in the Sea of Cortez. Was immersed in natural landscapes of the mountains, mangroves and the sand dunes such a beautiful place. Thank you MTA for sharing your home with us. If we had more time, we would do the safari. Might just have to come back. Ev & Sim

Best way to see Balandra Bay! - Absolutely amazing experience with MTA! Of course, any trip to beautiful Balandra Bay is going to be stunning, but what makes this next level are the passion and personality that each guide infuses into the tour. Mateo and Sergio perfectly paced and enhanced the entire experience. And fabulous guides, to me, is indicative of the owners and culture of MTA. Love that this is a sisters/women owned business too. Highly recommend!
