Azerbaijan is known as the Land of Fire. Be sure to experience these locations before departing our nation.
Experience the unparalleled Ateshgah Fire Temple - a standout attraction in Azerbaijan. Historical accounts suggest that prior to the late 17th century construction of the Indian Temple Of Fire in Surakhani, locals worshipped at this location, attracted by the ‘seven holes with burning flame’.
Next, we continue onto the enigmatic Yanar Dag (Burning Mountain). This perpetual natural gas flame burns on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula, on the shores of the Caspian Sea near Baku. Yanar Dag is amongst Azerbaijan’s most visited tourist destinations. The historic epithet of the nation, ‘the land of fire’, is derived from these sacred sites in Baku.
