Ateshgah - Fire Temple - Discover why Azerbaijan is known as the land of fire by visiting the 17th-century Fire Temple and a hill that has been burning for 4 millennia. The driver and guide will pick you up from the hotel at the specified time and take you directly to the Fire Temple. Located in the southeastern part of the Surakhani settlement on the Absheron peninsula, 30 km from Baku, Ateshgah is a fire temple built in the 17th-18th centuries over natural gas flames. The earliest structure dates back to 1713, and the central temple was built in 1810 by merchant Kanchanagara. It has been sanctified by Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Sikhs at different times.

Yanardag State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve - After visiting the Fire Temple, your final destination will be the Fire Mountain. This natural burning flame is due to natural gas emerging at the foot of the hill. The hill has been burning for approximately 4 millennia, even in rain and snow, with gas roots extending to the Caspian Sea. Yanardag Mountain, also known as Burning Hill, has had natural gas ablaze for hundreds of years. Enjoy the view of Yanardag – the famous burning mountain. In ancient times, natural eternal flames burned in many places on the Absheron peninsula. Yanardag was declared a State Historical-Cultural and Natural Reserve to protect this natural monument.

Sightseeing Baku Tour

Baku Old City - The tour starts at the main entrance of Icheri Sheher (Old City) called Double Gates. You will see the Chain, Sailor, and Cat Houses, Bukhara and Multani Caravanserais, Juma Mosque, and Maiden Tower. The guide will explain the history of Icheri Sheher and its buildings. Shirvanshah Palace, the pearl of Azerbaijan’s architectural heritage, was the former residence of the rulers of Shirvan, located in the heart of Baku. The complex includes the Divan-Khan courtyard, tomb, mosque from 1441, bathhouse, and the mausoleum of court scholar Seyid Yahya Bakuvi. The Bukhara caravanserai, built in the late 15th century, has a quadratic shape with an octagonal yard. The Maiden Tower, used as a fortress in the 12th century, offers a superb rooftop view of Baku Bay and the Old City.

Highland Park - Known as ‘’Viewing Square’’ and formerly ‘’Sergei Kirov park’’ during the Soviet era, Highland Park is a favorite spot in Baku for walking, resting, and enjoying the sea view. Relax by breathing fresh air, viewing the city, and drinking tea at the Highland Park Café while listening to classic lounge music. It’s best to visit at night for the amazing lighting on the stairs. On hot summer days and nights, the park is cool and a bit windy.

Baku Boulevard - Also known as the National Seaside Park, Baku Boulevard is a favorite promenade for residents and visitors, and the second largest in Europe after the park on the banks of the River Seine in Paris. Established over 100 years ago, it stretches 3,750 meters along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, from National Flag Square to Freedom Square. The area includes museums, cultural facilities, malls, and entertainment centers, including the modern panoramic amusement ride – the Devil’s Wheel, offering a beautiful view over Baku Bay.

Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum - The museum showcases different schools and techniques of carpet weaving from across the country. In August 2014, it moved to a new building shaped like a rolled carpet, designed by Austrian architects Franz Janz and Walter Mari. The museum houses over 14,000 exhibits, including rare carpets, jewelry, clothing, embroidery, glass pieces, wood, and felt. The first floor features flat-weave carpets and applied arts, the second floor displays pile carpets from various regions, and the third floor focuses on modern designers, the museum’s history, and a children’s room. Open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00-18:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-20:00. Closed on Mondays.

Gabala - Sheki

Diri Baba Mausoleum - The two-story mausoleum stands on a cliff. The first floor has a hall with a passageway to an octahedral cupola. Stairs carved into the cliff lead to the second floor. The spherical cupola with plant ornaments fits harmoniously into the picturesque surroundings. The mausoleum is a masterpiece of the Shirvan architectural school and is protected by the government.

Juma Mosque - Located in Shamakhi, the Juma Mosque (or Friday Mosque) is a popular tourist attraction. Unlike many mosques, non-Muslims are permitted to enter. Shoes must be removed, and women must cover their heads (head covers are provided at the entrance).

Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum - Located at the foot of Gulistan Fortress, the Yeddi Gumbez Mausoleum, or “Seven Domes,” is the burial site of Shirvan Dynasty rulers. The gravestones look like half-destroyed stone domes, creating a mysterious atmosphere.

Nohur Lake - Located near the Gabala-Ismayilli-Baku motorway, Nohur Lake is a natural attraction visited by tourists. It is 5 km east of Gabala city and surrounded by mountains. The lake is 1925 m long, 1355 m wide, and covers 240 ha. It has a maximum depth of 24 m and a water volume of about 16 million m3. Situated 700 meters above sea level, it offers an amazing view for photos.

Sheki City Tour

Church of Kish - Visit the first Albanian church in the Caucasus, dating back to the 1st century AD. The renovated round-towered church in Kish village is now a trilingual museum. The current building dates to the 12th century, with remains dating back millennia. The church features a marquee dome, narrow windows, and an ancient cemetery. A transparent plastic dome allows visitors to see the skeleton of an unusually tall man.

Sheki Khan’s Palace - The 18th-century Sheki Khans’ Palace is a valuable monument built without nails or glue. The palace has 6 rooms, 4 corridors, and 2 mirrored balconies. The windows and doors are made of wood and colored Venetian glass, creating a rainbow of colors inside. Each room is uniquely decorated with miniatures of mythical birds, flowers, and animals.

Karvansaray - The “Caravanserai” historical complex in Sheki includes two caravanserais, “Yukhari” (Upper) and “Ashaghi” (Lower), built in the 18th-19th centuries. The Lower caravanserai has a rectangular shape with a central pool and 242 rooms. It now serves as a hotel complex with a national cuisine restaurant and luxury suites.

Guba - Khinalug Tour

Qecresh Bag - On the way to Khinalig Village, stop for pictures in the Qecresh forest. The forest is home to local people, natural springs, and various plants and animals. It is also possible to catch fish in Gudjalchay, adding to the village’s beauty.

State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Reserve Khinalig - Khinalug is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, with a history of over 5,000 years. The village has survived many invasions due to its high altitude and remoteness. Historical sites include a 12th-century mosque, a 15th-century mosque, ancient cemeteries, and holy caves.
