At the base of Beshbarmag is the holy site “Pir Hydyr Zundzha,” where travelers stop to pray and worship. Your guide will share mythical stories about this place.
  • Candy Cane Mountain - Located in the Khizi and Siyazan districts of Azerbaijan, the Candy Cane Mountains are part of the Greater Caucasus range. Shahdag Day Tour - My husband and I recently went on the Shahdag tour in Baku, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The tour company exceeded our expectations in every way. Our guide was absolutely fantastic—amazing, friendly, funny, and incredibly entertaining. They made the trip so enjoyable with their engaging personality and wealth of knowledge about the area. We felt like we were in great hands throughout the entire tour. The scenery was stunning, and the itinerary was perfectly paced, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of Shadag and places along the way without feeling rushed. Additionally, we were fortunate to be in the company of some wonderful fellow travelers, which added to the overall enjoyment of the tour. We highly recommend this tour company to anyone looking to explore Baku and its beautiful surroundings. Their professionalism, combined with the personal touch provided by our exceptional guide, made this an unforgettable experience. We look forward to joining another tour with them in the future!

Day trip to khinali and candy mountains - Amazing full day trip to the highest village in Europe along with some stop offs along the way. It’s a long drive to get to the village but very well worth it. Fantastic lunch in a locals house with some amazing food Our guide Leyla was the best. Vey knowledgeable and was very helpful ( and also swapped seats so my wife could sit in the front of the car as she gets a little car sickness) We made some extra stops on the journey to buy local honey from the road side and meet a local farmer who showed us his fruit farm and gave us extra cherries and plums ( the ladies also got given roses by him) Highly recommended day trip whilst in Baku

Breathtaking views. Leyla our bubbly guide. - The drive to Khinaliq, nestled in the Caucasus mountains with Azerbaijan Travel was truly mesmerizing. We first stopped to see the Candycane mountains, astonishing orange-red chalked swirls. Then we visited the Jewish synagogue and proceeded to a remote village for Azerbaijani lunch. Truly different experience. Leyla our tour guide was utterly amazing. Very friendly, accommodating and so professional. She provided us with so many insights and information. Her warmth and bubbly nature made our trip so memorable. Love you Leyla... The other guide Faut and our driver were also so nice. In fact, we took our Shamakhi and Gobustan trips also from Azerbaijan Travel. Truly recommend. Lorraine India

Leyla was a superlative guide - This trip is a true National Geographic-type cultural experience for moderately adventurous travelers. We booked it as a private trip, and it was well worth it, since it involves 7 hours of driving on a 12-hour trip. Communication from Leyla, our wonderful guide came the night before, and we were picked up in a spacious Mercedes minivan with seating set up like a limo. The first 1/2 of the trip involved driving on mostly highways to the CandyCane Mountains, where we hiked around the unusual red and white-striped formations for 1/2 hour. We then proceeded to Quba where we visited the most Jewish city outside of Israel, where we had a private tour of a synagogue turned into a Jewish museum. Jews came to this area after the destruction of the first temple in 586 BCE and have lived here ever since. The harrowing road from Quba to Khinaliq passes through some of the most spectacular scenery we have ever seen (and we are from Aspen, Colorado and have been to 100 countries). Because the tour was private, we were able to spend as much time as we liked doing (very) brief hikes. The highlight of the trip was the visit to where the road ends, high in the Caucasus Mountains on the border with Dagestan. Here these remote villagers speak a language unrelated to Azerbaijani and only spoken by them. Here we had a lunch in a family home. Due to Azerbaijan’s great IT infrastructure we had good cellular service the entire trip. With the comfortable van, I was able to catch some shut eye on the trip back. Our driver, Nizami, made the scary ride as comfortable as possible. Leyla was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. She is so charming and charismatic and knowledgeable. A great spokesperson for her country.

A view from the top worth boasting about.. - Me and my friend Rhea had a blast during our Khinalug Day Trip (7th July 2024). Great company/acquaintances. The weather was perfect with a grand picturesque to boast. We had a sumptuous lunch in one of the local’s dwelling place. Cheers to LEYLA for doing an excellent job as our tour guide (she’s with Azerbaijan Travel just so you know). Hands down, that will be one of the best memories I can pass on to my great grand nieces and nephews🤓. Bring an extra money in your pocket for the lunch (Azn 25/pax) by the way if your tour fee doesn’t cover it. Check the weather forecast since you’re going to 2400mtrs + height above sea level (it may be sunny in Baku but raining when you get there). Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes.

Long drive ... but worth it - You will spend 8 of the 10 hours in the car ... but it is worth it ... to see how people live outside the city on a few dollars a day in the middle of nowhere. It is long day, but if you have a good tour guide as we had and a friendly group ... the time in the vehicle will go by more quickly. Leyla was warm and pleasant and, it is clear, that she likes her work ... many tour guides get bored after a few years on the job ... and it shows. Leyla ... on the other hand ... is still young and full of energy.
