The initial destination is the Madu River in Balapitiya for a boat ride. This one-hour excursion offers a boat safari through the untouched mangrove marshes of the Madu River. Navigate through the mysterious and dense mangrove forests, interspersed with bright, open water stretches. Discover the ecological benefits of mangroves and observe crocodiles, water snakes, tree snakes, and wild boars in their natural environment. Witness cormorants, storks, and various bird species hunting in the swift currents of the Madu River. See the prawn and shrimp traps set in the river’s shallower areas. Visit an ancient Buddhist temple on one of the river’s many islands. Stop by another island, known for its cinnamon production, and purchase fresh, high-quality cinnamon as a souvenir. Don’t miss the outdoor fish massage parlor, where you can dip your feet into a fenced section of the river for a unique massage experience. Please note that there is a fee for the fish massage parlor.
Arrival at Galle Fort is scheduled for 11:30 AM.

UNESCO recognized the site as a World Heritage Site for its unique representation of an urban ensemble illustrating the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to 19th centuries, meeting criterion number four for such recognition.
