A beautiful experience - Just so special. We were debating whether to do this trip or not because we had got so tired of travelling so much and wanted a rest. We were so pleased to have begrudgingly got on the boat! The bot sails through the beautiful sognefjord and explains various spots along the way. The water is so clear and peaceful, the mountains are monumental. We stopped at Fjærland to get a bus to the Glacier Museum, which is a sweet little place and can be done in a few minutes. Luckily for us the weather was beautiful so we were able to spend more time outside. Then back on the bus to the Glacier. We’d recommend going off the main path and hitching a right. You don’t get as close to the base of the glacier, but we were the only people at the secluded spot. It felt like a private viewing of the beautiful glacier. We even got the chance to dip our feet in, as the water was much more shallow. It was such an incredible experience, being able to do such a thing. Go. Enjoy.

Enjoyable tour - Love the fjord tour. The boat and crew were very friendly and helpful. Not quite enough time at glacier (but does say mini tour). Thought would have had some time in Fjaerland. Glacier museum is a must so informative and good cafe. Overall great experience.

Beautiful scenery, good commentary, - We did the 12.10pm from Balestrand tour. The boat was great we had lovely weather and the commentary was not constant, interesting, and not cheesy/corny - all pluses for us. We had not bought the glacier part as we intended to get the public bus (line805) from Fjaerland wharf to the glacier viewing point (you don’t go to the actual glacier on this route). You can buy the bus ticket on the skyss billett app (Zone J). Only problem is the public bus and the tour bus for this company are one and the same so the bus waits about an hour at the Museum which we didn’t really want to go to (but you could have bought an entry to the museum if you wanted). Then goes on to the glacier viewpoint where you have about 20-25 minutes. Personally I would rather have only gone to the glacier and have spent the hour wandering around Fjaerland village. But other than private car this bus seems to be the only way to get to the glacier viewpoint.

Disappointing Based On How the Tour Time Was Allocated - As soon as you get off the boat in Fjaerland, you immediately board a bus and go to the glacier museum for one hour. First, we would have enjoyed spending at least 20 minutes in Fjaerland and we did not need an hour at the museum. 30 minutes was more than enough. The museum was the lowlight of this trip. We then boarded our bus to go to the glacier. We only had 15 minutes max at the glacier. We should have had at least 30 minutes as this was the highlight of the trip. As soon as we got back to Fjaerland, we had to immediately board the boat. A better itinerary that would have made this tour a 5 star would have allocated 20 minutes to visit the town, shortened the museum visit and added at least 15 minutes to the glacier visit.

Spectacular trip - It’s sad that we have to book ahead to get on this trip. The weather for us was not kind so everyone was wanting to be inside which was hard with it smelling of diesel. I should have really looked into booking an electric boat and apparently it is so silent going up the fjord you hear the birds. The crew were lovely and it was well organised. Fantastic visit to The Glacier museum.

Balestrand Cider House tour - do it, but without this company - Balestrand Cider House tour, cider tasting and lunch were great - highly recommended! Delicious food, great cider and the person who did the tour was clearly very passionate about apples and cider and knew all there was to know about them. Do it without Glacier Tour, though, for 2 reasons: 1) Price: Balestrand Cider House tour costs 675 NOK if you buy it yourself, ferry Vik-Balestrand-Vik is 158 NOK and Hopperstand church entrance is 90 NOK. This "guided" tour cost 1950 NOK in total, so Glacier Tours effectively charged 1027 NOK just for the 3 hour minibus trip Voss-Vik-Voss and the guided tour of the church. That seems a bit steep, even for Norway! 2) Poor organisation and communication: their email gave two departure times and places (09:00 from bus station and 09:15 from Culture Centre), but in fact they were one and the same. I expected a minibus and other people to be waiting there, but it was actually driving from Bergen and I was the only person being picked up in Voss. So I had to call them to figure out what's going on while stressing that I might have missed the bus. The driver tried to call me, but had the wrong number for me on her list - it was the number of someone who did the tour the previous day! (How does that even happen, when I entered my number into the same web form as my name?) Then, on arrival at Balestrand, it turned out there was no group and I just needed to find my own way to the Cider House. Would I make it in time? The company's website said "The bus will bring you from The Ciderhouse back to Centre of Balestrand." but there was no bus. Now, I had no problem walking there and back, but all this stress and misunderstanding could easily have been avoided with just a little communication from Glacier Tours! Our minbus driver (Victoria?) was very nice, however, and a very good driver, so 3 stars instead of 2 just because of her!

Zero hospitality, not a Fjord tour but a ferry ride - The hospitality on this tour is a joke. It is not so much a ‘tour’ but a ferry ride from Balestrand to Fjaerland. There is little room on the ferry and it is difficult to see the surroundings. The boat/Fjord tour consisted of around eight 20 second sound bites. It was very amateurish and not informative. The guide on the tour made excuses about the lack of space, commented on my home country inappropriately, complained about serving non-English speaking visitors, and generally spoke to us in an unprofessional manner. The ‘traditional Norwegian food’ on the ferry consisted of chocolate, chips and apple juice - the type you can by in any Norwegian supermarket. The museum was interesting and had a ‘movie’ which looked spectacular but had no information about the glacier whatsoever. The guide for the bus and to the glacier had some interesting information. The glacier was awesome. My advice is to make your own way to Fjaerland.
