A Journey Through Belfast’s Troubled Past

As a former professor of European history, I was particularly drawn to the Belfast Peace Walls, which stand as a testament to the city’s turbulent past during the Troubles. Dunluce Castle and the Legacy of Bushmills Distillery

Our final destinations were the dramatic ruins of Dunluce Castle and the historic Bushmills Distillery. Perched on a clifftop overlooking the wild Atlantic Ocean, Dunluce Castle is a testament to the architectural prowess of the medieval period. The castle’s history is as tumultuous as the seas that crash against its cliffs, with tales of sieges, shipwrecks, and ghostly apparitions adding to its allure.

A short drive away, the Bushmills Distillery offered a different kind of historical experience. As the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, it has been producing its renowned spirits for over 400 years.
