- Banff National Park - During this tour, the Radventures guide will decide the optimal times to visit each location, considering weather conditions, large tour schedules, and other local insights to ensure guests have the most genuine experience possible.
Exploring the depths of Banff National Park is an extraordinary adventure in any season! However, weather can change rapidly, and winter temperatures often remain below freezing. It’s important to dress in layers and prepare for cold conditions, including wearing warm, waterproof footwear.
- Lake Louise - Put on your ice skates and snowshoes at the renowned Lake Louise, and glide across the ice and snow while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
With two hours available, guests can enjoy ice skating on the lake, exploring lakeside trails on snowshoes or by foot, admiring the ice sculptures, and visiting the stunning hotel interior and shops. There is something for everyone, regardless of activity level!
Upon arrival, the guide will highlight key landmarks and provide all necessary information for exploring the lake independently, as well as demonstrate the use of snowshoes and ice skates (small additional fee, please contact Radventures before booking).
Once everyone is engaged in their Lake Louise activities, the guide will stay with the tour van, allowing guests to come and go as needed to pick up or drop off gear and access a warm place to relax and store belongings.
- Lake Louise - Around 12pm - 1pm, there will be a brief lunch stop at Samson Mall in Lake Louise Village.
Guests can choose to purchase lunch at a local café or bakery, or pre-order a bagged lunch from Bare Bistro (additional cost, please contact Radventures before booking). Guests are also welcome to bring their own lunch.
Please note: This is a remote area of the Rockies, and lunch options may be limited for those with dietary restrictions. For more details, please contact Radventures before booking.
- Johnston Canyon - Discover the stunning beauty of Banff National Park’s frozen winter wonderland at Johnston Canyon!
Upon arrival, the guide will provide crampons/ice-cleats and hiking poles, sharing fascinating stories and facts as you explore the gentle trail to the Lower Falls (approximately 30 minutes/1.2km/0.75 miles/50m elevation gain one way).
At the Lower Falls, guests can choose to return to the warm tour van or continue to the Upper Falls (an additional 30 minutes/1.3km/0.8 miles/70m elevation gain) to witness the largest and most impressive frozen waterfalls in the canyon and watch daring ice climbers scale the frozen walls.
The round trip from the trailhead to the Upper Falls is 2 hours/5.0km/3.1 miles/120m elevation gain in total, suitable for those with moderate fitness levels.
Physical activity is encouraged but not required, and guests may opt to relax instead of hike.
- Bow Valley Parkway - Enjoy the breathtaking views of towering mountains, vast glaciers, and alpine forests while watching for wildlife as you travel along the scenic backroads of Banff National Park between Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, and Banff.
- Banff - On Radventures’ full-day guided adventures, expert local guides often include a surprise or two to enhance the guests’ experience!
This tour guarantees visits to Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, and the Bow Valley Parkway’s beauty at a minimum.
Between or before/after these stops, guides will use their local expertise and knowledge of weather, large tour schedules, and recent wildlife sightings to make a secret stop or two.
