Ice fields are from a different world - My daughter and I went on this tour with Emma as our guide. First of all, Emma was fantastic ensuring everyone was safe and being taken care of. We had very mixed group from an age and ability standpoint. Emma ran around to make sure no one was left behind, but she did not let those more nimble be neglected either. Also, she is an extremely sweet sociable person and we were extremely blessed to have her. Please note that it is a moderately strenuous tour. The descent from the Icefield climb is steep and some people were sliding down if not given a helping hand. The ice field was my daughter’s favorite spot visited. With the slightly overcast sky, she felt it otherworldly. We also really liked Mistaya Canyon which has a beautiful falls we had a small hike to. Other stops included Peyto Lake and Bow Lake (which was so beautiful surrounded by white capped mountains). Also on our excursion, we saw some big horn sheep at the ice fields and passed three bears.

What an amazing trip, frozen bubbles and fantastic views and scenery. - Just been on the most amazing trip today. Tess our guide was outstanding, so friendly and knowledgeable. Took great care of us and was so full of enthusiasm that it was infectious. The stops were just perfect, if you can walk 400m you will manage this trip and be able to enjoy it. A couple of gentle inclines but easily managed by a near 80 year old with arthritic knees and walking with poles. Great communication with them when I checked a couple of things out before we went. Absolute must if you are in Banff, a very unique trip and an elevation to your normal amazing lakes experience. And if you get "Tess the best" she will ensure you have a great day.

Abraham Lake - a must see - This was a fantastic tour. Mitch the guide was skilled, helpful and informative. Even though it is a long drive, Mitch was pointing out mountain peaks, explaining the movement of glaciers and generally a font of knowledge! The highlight for me was walking on Abraham Lake and learning about the ice bubbles (thermal gases), and hoary frost frozen in the thick ice. Afterwards my reading of Wikipedia unearthed the sad history of the formation of this artificial lake and the dislocation of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation tribe. While I pay tribute to the original First Nations tribes, the natural phenomena occurring at this Lake are intriguing. Other stops were made along the way there and return, with many photo opportunities of frozen lakes, mountains and glaciers. Thoroughly recommend.
