Great day visit to floating markets. - My wife and I enjoyed spending our day (private tour) with our guide Gimao and driver Mr. Toey. It is a bit of a drive to the floating market and the traffic is always heavy, but worth the trip. Gimao provided ample stops along the way and intermediate activities to round out the day. She is a lovely young lady and was able to provide interesting perspectives to what we saw and daily life in Thailand. Returning to our Bangkok hotel at a reasonable time.

Ambreen was an excellent guide. She... -
Ambreen was an excellent guide. She packed a LOT into one spectacular day. Drive to Floating Market and took private boat on a busy Sunday. Full of people from all over the world enjoying the local Thai foods, fruits, and arts and crafts. Then off to the Rose Garden in Sampan to walk the beautiful grounds by the river followed by an excellent lunch in the restaurant sitting beside a pond filled with carp breaking the surface of the water. Then we went to the Thai Cultural center after lunch to learn the bamboo dance, see how they make massage ointments, paint umbrellas, make elephants from clay, make a Thai dessert of bananas and coconut, watch vegetable carving, make flower arrangements and see a live show. Off we went to a crocodile show and then also and Elephant show before heading back to Bangkok. Lovely countryside on the way back.

This is a full day trip departing at 7... -
This is a full day trip departing at 7 am and getting back to Bangkok about 6 pm...depending on the traffic. You visit 2 provinces outside the city of Bangkok.

At the first stop, you take an hour boat ride on the floating market. At times it seems like there will be a boat jam but every boat gets through without a problem. You can stop to buy things and sample various food items from vendors on the water. Once you stop, you can also wander through market stalls on ground. Some things are touristy...others are quite nice, especially some of the art work.

Second stop is for lunch at the Sampran Riverside Hotel. The Rose Garden Thai village is located here as well. You can wander through the village and either just watch at each station or you can participate. There are food samplings as well. The high light of the Thai village is the cultural song and dance show that is held every afternoon. The bamboo cane dance is particularly thrilling.

The afternoon also includes a short drive to see both an elephant and crocodile show.

Aey was my guide. She is a very gentle person, knowledgeable as well. She paces the day very well, always making sure you have water and bathroom breaks.

This tour is absolutely fantastic... -
This tour is absolutely fantastic. We were picked up at our hotel by guide and driver and brought to the floating market where you have enough time to visit before taking a boat tour of the canals that ends at the starting point of the bike tour. The bike ride is very nice on flat roads, through fruit plantations and on roads with little to no traffic. After about 10km we were met by our driver for a quick pit stop water, sweets, fruits, etc.. Then we rode another 10km to the very nice riverside restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon we rode another 15km to return to the floating market. All in all we found the tour perfectly organized and very good value for money snacks, water, lunch, boat tour all included. Our guide Shofie was not only a great riding companion, but also an entertainer and valuable source of information about Thailand. We suggest this tour to everyone wishing to visit the floating markets.

Touristy- but if you haven't seen you should - we went to see this - it began with a longtail boat ride in the back streets or klongs ( alley ways in he river) you see how many locals live. so it is quite interesting. the floating market is quite colorful , bu it is not really a serious trading place anymore, but gives you a great insight into how it truly was many years ago. dont get me wrong the items on the boat are for sale, but aimed at the tourists. one thing to be careful of is, DO not hold the sides of the boats with your hands - you could end up getting your fingers squashed in between the many baots,
