Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit) - The Golden Buddha, officially known as Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimakon and commonly referred to in Thai as Phra Sukhothai Traimit, is a gold statue of the Buddha in the Maravijaya Attitude, weighing 5.5 tonnes (5,500 kilograms). It is located in Wat Traimit temple in Bangkok. At one point, the statue was covered with stucco and colored glass to hide its true value, remaining in this state for nearly 200 years. The gold was revealed in 1955 when the plaster was chipped off during relocation.
