Longer drive than time spent in event - Booked this trip after finding the link online. Travel time from Bangkok to the Samaesan marina in Chon Buri was advertised as ~2hrs. The driver drove excellently, the vehicle was clean and he gave great service opening doors etc. as we got in/out of his van. Where things started to go a little weird was when we stopped at a 7-11 store thinking we were having a break, getting a bite to eat. After opening the van door and going into 7-11 the driver got in the van and left. We were provided with some sort of instructions that someone would be by in about 15 minutes to pick us up. We’ve travelled internationally before and, while this was a little odd, you factor in languages and potential for miscommunication and just roll with it. Same driver showed up about 15 minutes later with more people, some of which stayed in his vehicle and others who went into another vehicle heading to another tourist destination. We stopped at Pattaya Buddha Mountain for a photo shoot which was really cool. We were then driven to Dong Snorkling, geared up, and met our guide. Got on the boat and out to the first of 3 spots to snorkel. We were informed the first spot was nice and sandy and we’d go without fins for photos and to receive instruction for those not used to snorkeling. Unfortunately it appeared as though someone else had that area taken so we went to their “alternate” spot. This is where things went bad. The area had some sand interspersed with coral. Instructions were to “be careful, stay on the sand”. Right off the back of the boat where we were to get into the water were several pieces of reef. No less than 3 people got cut to the point of notable blood on the boat deck. It was mostly brushed off by the staff who were nice people and friendly, the approach was just relatively haphazard. Underwater pictures were taken as well as drone photos all to be available for download on social media. We don’t have a social media account so supplied an e-mail address upon their request and haven’t seen any pictures at all, while others in our group got theirs via social media. The last straw which warrants the single star rating was the ride back. We drove for what seemed like about 45 minutes to stop an unrecognizable urban area. Wondering what we were doing there we watched as the driver got out and finally herded up 3 more tourists, opened the door and put the newcomers onto the van. Then we proceeded to drive another 4+ hours back to Bangkok. A portion of that can be attributed to traffic, but not enough to make the trip there and back equate to more than 6 hours. The best I can tell is there is one company scheduling rides with a couple co-located pick-up/drop-off points for multiple excursions. Nothing of which is mentioned anywhere in advertising. I understand economy of scale but It felt fairly deceptive and the amount of unexpected time in a vehicle was ridiculous. There are plenty of offers out there. I’d stay clear of this one.
