- Sand Beach - From the Sand Beach parking area, visitors can access the sandy beachfront or take the Ocean Path, which runs parallel to the road and coastline, extending to Otter Point. It’s a 2.2-mile journey, or 4.4 miles round trip.
- Thunder Hole - A naturally carved small inlet in the rocks where waves create a thunderous sound, with splashes reaching up to 40 feet high.
- Otter Cliff - These cliffs rise 100 feet above the coast and are a favored spot for rock climbing over the ocean.
- Otter Point Overlook - Located at the southern tip of the peninsula, this is the other end of the Ocean Path that starts at Sand Beach, offering one of the most breathtaking views along the North Atlantic seaboard.
- Otter Cove Bridge & Causeway - The road curves around Otter Cove, featuring a unique stone bridge. The inlet leads to a creek on the opposite side, making it an excellent spot for tidepooling.
- Wild Iris Farm, LLC - A large barn houses stables for powerful horses that pull carriages along some of Acadia’s historic carriage roads, a tradition dating back to John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who began building them in 1913.
- Jordan Pond - This pond, more like a lake, spans 187 acres and offers an iconic view of the Bubbles mountains. Jordan Pond House is a historic site known for its tradition of baking hot popover rolls, a popular attraction at Acadia.
- The Bubbles - Bubble Rock is a massive boulder perched on South Bubble Mountain. The Bubbles Divide Trail, a short, easy-to-moderate hike about a mile long with a 608-foot elevation gain, leads to it. Some boulder scrambling is required to get close to the rock. Follow signs to Bubble Rock, keeping left on the trail.
- Cadillac Mountain - Standing 1,528 feet above sea level, Cadillac Mountain is the highest peak in Acadia and on Mount Desert Island, as well as the tallest point along the entire east coast of the United States. Visitors can drive to the summit for stunning views of Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay, and the Porcupine Islands.
- Somesville Historical Museum and Gardens - Known for one of Maine’s most photographed bridges, with a graceful arch reflected in Somes Creek’s waters, creating a picturesque view. Nicknamed the Monet Bridge, it resembles a painting by the French artist. A small museum on-site offers insights into Mount Desert Island’s history.
- Echo Lake Beach - Featuring a sandy beach on its south shore, Echo Lake is a beautiful small lake on Mount Desert Island’s western side, just south of Somesville, and part of Acadia. It serves as a pleasant swimming spot in summer, with voices echoing off the surrounding granite rocks.
- Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse - Constructed of brick in 1858 on a stone foundation, this lighthouse stands 56 feet above the high water mark. It’s the most famous lighthouse in Acadia, the only one on Mount Desert Island, and one of the most recognized and photographed in the United States.
- Ship Harbor Nature Trail - A 1.3-mile easy figure-eight loop along the forest floor off Seawall Road near the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, offering stunning coastal views.
- Wonderland Trail - A 1.4-mile easy round-trip hike to the ocean along Seawall Road near Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
- Seawall Picnic Area - A picnic area with parking, providing an up-close view of the ocean.
- Charlotte Rhoades Garden and Butterfly Park - This butterfly garden at Charlotte Rhoades Park allows visitors to learn about butterfly habitats and observe them closely.
