Highlights
  • L’Aquarium de Barcelona - The Barcelona Aquàrium is located in the old harbor, Port Vell, and is the world’s most important marine leisure and education centre dedicated to Mediterranean undersea life. A unique attraction that has already been visited by more than 14 million people. Don’t wait for people to tell you about it… buy your ticket now and skip the queues.

The Barcelona Aquàrium is the perfect place to find out about the seabed and all its different species. You’ll learn about them through the 35 Mediterranean and tropical tanks which are home to 11,000 animals from some 450 different species.

The most spectacular of all is the immense Oceanarium, the only one in Europe which is 5m deep and 36m in diameter. A transparent 80-metre-long tunnel runs through the Oceanarium where you can walk among sharks, gilt heads, morays, ocean sunfish and many more species.

With your ticket you’ll also be able to visit the permanent exhibitions, Planeta Aqua and Explora! which show the importance of water in the development of our planet, and where kids can discover the underwater world by using their five senses.

After your visit, you’ll be able to enjoy the different services on offer: the café, shop, souvenir photo, auditorium, etc.

Great afternoon at the Aquarium - Definitely a bonus skipping quite a long line at the entrance to buy tickets prior to a second line to get through the barriers. Great facility with excellent viewing areas. Teens loved the tunnels seeing the sharks and fish species closely. Would recommend.

Kid-friendly - Kid-friendly. Clean. No need to buy the "skip-the-line" ticket. There wasn't a line. Our 2-year old had a grand time

A fun & enjoyable time! - We loved visiting the aquarium!! When we went, construction was being done on certain parts of the building but it didn’t take away from our experience. We look forward to visiting again when this work is completed!

Barcelona Aquarium - The aquarium is very well done. Excellent for families. We went on Sunday afernoon, 06/02, and there were no lines. The Old Port marina area is a great area to walk around, with many places to eat an vendors' stalls.

Aquarium delightful - Great place to visit, bigger inside than expected with lots to see and do. The shark tank (huge) with moving floor was the highlight. Lots of young school children knocking about creating the usual amount of noise and mayhem could detract from the experience if you preferred a more tranquil visit.

No big deal. - With higher expectations than in Malta I visited this aquarium, unfortunately the level is similar or even slightly lower, in general the tanks were many, but the descriptions about the species were generic or absent, the fish were in good health and the central aquarium very spectacular, few souvenirs and gadgets, cheap entry price for families!

Needs work - Ok for very little kids. The exhibits were lacking any excitement… very small place. Should only charge $10 to get in

Awful on so many levels! - Checked before I went to ensure they didn’t have dolphins. Never dawned on me that they might have penguins. Bad enough seeing large fish & sharks in tanks far too small for them but the penguins were literally the most depressing thing I have ever seen and I am utterly ashamed to have contributed to their misery. A tiny enclosure, all the penguins sitting about, listless, dirty and dejected. No movement and most facing into the wall. They just looked absolutely broken! Heartbreaking when you think in the wild they are gregarious, social and swim for miles every day. The biggest irony is that there is a screen showing footage of penguins in their natural habitat, swimming, fishing, preening, and socialising. A world away from the reality the poor Barcelona penguins are being subjected to! That aside, extortionate ticket prices for what the entire experience is. Not sure how anyone with any empathy could stand over supporting this venue. 💔
