Highlights
  • Girona Cathedral - During the Muslim period, 715-785, the building worked as a mosque. This Gothic church has the second biggest nave in the world, with 22.98m width, only after Saint Peter Basilica in the Vatican, with 25m width. The Cathedral is located in the middle of the old city and in the highest part.
  • Esglesia de Sant Feliu - This was the main temple of the city until the construction of the Cathedral. The church is dedicated to Sant Feliu, a martyr who died during the Christian persecution promoted by the roman emperor Diocletian. Inside the church there is the tomb of saint Narcissus.
  • Sant Pere de Galligants - Built in Romanesque style actually has the archaeological museum of Girona.
  • Girona Jewish Art - Both Jewish quarters from Girona and Besalú are the best preserved in Europe.
  • Banys Àrabs - This structure is known under the name of Arabic bath because its architecture has the clear influence from the Muslim architecture.
  • Muralles de Girona - From the French gardens we can start the way through the ancient city walls. From there we have great panoramic views of the old city.
  • Dali Theatre-Museum - It holds the biggest collection of artwork that represent the artistic evolution of Salvador Dalí, from his origins to his latest works that are considered the top of the Spanish surrealism.

After a small introduction about the history of the museum and Dali’s live and career, you will be given plenty of free time to explore the museum and also Figueres by yourself. At the fixed time we will take the bus back to the centre of Barcelona.

Girona + Dali - Girona was the most impressive aspect of this tour. I booked for the Dali Museum, but was even happier to have experienced Girona!

What a wonderful day - Sylvia and Laura were very good. I felt hurried thru lunch and suggest another 30 minutes in Girona. I was really rushing to get thru the Dali museum and suggest 45min to an hour more there. In sun, excellent, just wanted more time

Girona, Dali Museum - This was a great trip. Our guide was great and was very knowledgeable and accommodating! Wish we could have gone into a couple of the sights. But, overall it was a great tour

Wonderful Tour Guides - I loved the tour guide Sandra she was so sweet and funny and the other tour guide was also great. It was a busy day going to two destination. We had free time in Girona and went to the Jewish Museum which was excellent! We did the audio tour because we didn’t have that much time due to the tour we took. You can do a different tour option if you want more time I think. A good value because it also included the Dalí museum in figures and bus transportation. We did not have that much extra time in Figures but it was fine. A good tip is to bring or pick up snacks water for the ride.

Breathtaking Girona and surreal Dali in a day - Girona was beautiful and exceeded my expectations. The Roman wall, the intact Jewish quarter, the picturesque views all over town. Our guide, Sylvia, was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and good at keeping the group together and providing tips and directions. The Dali museum was fantastic. The only problem with this trip that it was not long enough. We could have easily used an extra half hour in Girona to enjoy lunch and an extra hour in Figueres for Dali. I felt like I was racing through the museum, and I would have liked to take more time there.

Disappointing - While the city of Girona and the Dali museum are well worth visiting, I can't recommend our guide, Danny (Daniel) or the timetable that this tour uses. The tour is bilingual, English/Spanish. Our guide's English was very heavily accented. At times, it was difficult to understand which language he was speaking in. In addition, our guide's delivery seemed very mechanical, like he memorized a script., and lacking any genuine interest or passion. Rather than emphasizing the history of this beautiful city, the 'script' seemed overly balanced to emphasizing locations where scenes scenes from The Game of Thrones were filmed.

Too Quick!! - This day trip from Barcelona - which included a guided tour of Girona, Figueres and an entry ticket for the Dali Museum - was mostly spent on a bus traveling to these locations. Upon our arrival at Girona, our (awesome!!) tour guide Dani led us to several different sites and explained the history and importance. He also had large laminated photos featuring Game of Thrones scenes shot in the city, which was a lovely touch! However, we were given just an hour to "explore and eat" - we RAN to snap a few pictures, eat a quick sandwich, take a bathroom break, and snag a xuixo (chucho) to-go before hopping back on the bus to Figueres. We were then given about 20 minutes to walk through Figueres as our guide procured our Dali Museum tickets (and a 10% discount at the gift shop). I think the most disappointing part of this excursion was that we were only given one hour to explore the entirety of this incredible museum (which was honestly, the biggest draw for us). You would need a good 3-4 hours if the crowds aren't too bad! We got through maybe 1.5 floors, snapping photos and speeding through so we could look back at the works later... we barely scratched the surface. Then it was back to the bus and to Barcelona. To clarify, everything was beautiful. However, it's important to remember that these cities are beautiful no matter what group you choose to travel with/through. This particular tour was far too rushed, and we were left feeling cheated out of the experience we paid for.

Girona & Dali are sites to see, but maybe with a different company. - Girona and the Dali museum were amazing! The weather was excellent, the sites and experience were great. I would recommend going to these sites, but not with this tour company. The reasons are listed below -although very nice, the tour guide wasn't a great guide. He did not project his voice, so it was VERY hard to hear him. He was given a headset to speak in to, and we were given listening devices to hear him, but he would not put the headset over his head. So, his communication was muffled or just hard to hear because he was not speaking in to his microphone. - When speaking of Girona, most of the information was around the show Game of Thrones. I learned very little about the town other than the show. If he spoke of the history, it was very hard to hear him and I picked up very little. - The tour guide had photos of the GOT filiming, but they were out of order, so every time he tried to find a photo, it was a five minute shuffle show. - suggestion - organize or number those bad boys! - Lastly, the driver was INSANE. Driving to the sites was ok, but coming back, the driver had to slam on his breaks many times. He went around like 1 or 2 cars, to just slam on his breaks because we were in traffic. He was a terrible driver.

Disappointing and unfortunate experience - Both the city of Girona and the Dalí Museum in Figueres are very interesting visits. That said, the tour has been a fiasco in many ways, starting with its description, which has nothing to do with reality. The advertisement is completely misleading. To begin with, you do not visit the town of Figueres, only the Museum. The guide seemed more interested in running us around the city than in visiting anything in depth. Visits, what they say visits, not one. Not even free time to visit a building of interest on your own. Everything has been seen from the outside, very superficially, and we have not entered anywhere. Of course, he has filled his mouth with talk about Game of Thrones. We barely had a little more than half an hour to eat and with the constant threat of the guide that he was going to abandon us if we were not on time, which would be logical if the times were somewhat more reasonable. At 5:30 we were back in Barcelona. Couldn't we have taken advantage of a couple more hours to visit something in depth and not have to run so much? The Dalí museum would have been very interesting and suggestive. However, we have not had a guided tour, as the tour description implies. Impossible to enjoy the visit!!! The overcrowding is total. Crowded, overwhelming, very little security and many visitors touching paintings or objects, flaunting their rudeness and little respect towards the works of art and towards other visitors, literally fighting to get a place and stand even for a few seconds at a time. contemplate some work through its intricate and narrow corridors and rooms. There is no suggested route or order in the visit and people come and go erratically. Of course, the museum is not even remotely adapted to people with reduced mobility. Complete discrimination. Like Girona, we also had to see the Museum in a hurry. A short hour! Finally, the uncomfortable bus, without a footrest or a socket to charge a mobile phone, as stated in Julià's advertising. And both the round trip, the air conditioning on full blast, despite having asked it to be closed several times. In short, a regrettable experience, no matter how you look at it. Very expensive due to its poor quality and the little or no consideration for the visitor, whether foreign or local, as is my case. Civitatis, Julià and Museu Dalí should offer rewarding experiences to lovers of art and culture. Between the 3 entities, they have managed to make me believe that all 3 are going to get easy money, without caring about quality customer service. You won't see my hair again.
