• Basilica de la Sagrada Familia - Gaudi’s Masterpiece

The Sagrada Familia is a Catholic basilica designed by Antonio Gaudí.

Construction started in 1882 and continues to this day. It is considered Gaudí’s masterpiece, one of Spain’s top attractions, and the second most visited church in Europe, after Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

Once completed, it will be the tallest Christian church in the world.

• Passeig de Gracia - Paseo de Gracia is one of Barcelona’s main avenues. It is filled with commercial and business areas and features many significant examples of Modernist Architecture, such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera by Antoni Gaudí, as well as other buildings by notable Catalan architects like Lluís Domènech i Montaner. These structures are recognized as World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

The avenue is located in central Barcelona, in the Ensanche district, and connects Plaza Cataluña to the east with Calle Mayor de Gracia to the west.

• Casa Mila - La Pedrera - Casa Milà, commonly known as “La Pedrera,” is a Modernist building by Antoni Gaudí, constructed between 1906 and 1910.

It is one of Barcelona’s most visited buildings, attracting 20 million visitors since it opened to the public in 1987.

• Casa Batllo - Casa Batlló is a building designed by Antoni Gaudí, the leading figure of Catalan Modernisme (a modernist Catalan movement).

Constructed between 1904 and 1906, it is located at 43 Paseo de Gracia, in the area known as the “Manzana de la Discordia” (literally “Apple of Discord”). This name arises from the concentration of modernist buildings by different architects: Casa Amatller, Casa Lleó i Morera, Casa Mulleras, and Casa Josefina Bonet.

• Casa Amatller - Casa Amatller is a Modernist building next to Casa Batlló and near Casa Lleó i Morera. It was designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch between 1898 and 1900.
• Plaza de Catalunya - Plaça de Catalunya, or Catalonia Square in English, is a large square in central Barcelona, generally considered the city’s center and the meeting point of the old city (Barri Gòtic and Raval in Ciutat Vella) and the 19th-century Eixample district.

Several of the city’s most important streets and avenues converge at Plaça Catalunya: Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, La Rambla, and Portal de l’Àngel, as well as Ronda de Sant Pere, Carrer de Vergara, and Carrer de Pelai. The plaza covers an area of about 50,000 square meters and is known for its fountains and statues, as well as its proximity to some of Barcelona’s most popular attractions.

• Las Ramblas - La Rambla is considered the most famous street in central Barcelona. This tree-lined pedestrian street stretches for 1.2 kilometers (3⁄4 mile), connecting Plaça de Catalunya in the center with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. La Rambla forms the boundary between the Barri Gòtic neighborhood to the east and El Raval to the west.

The Spanish poet Federico García Lorca once said that La Rambla was “the only street in the world which I wish would never end.”

The promenade is bustling with people from morning until late at night. Walking along La Rambla, you can see several notable buildings, such as the Palacio de la Virreina, the La Boquería market, and the famous El Liceo theater, where operas and ballets are performed.

One of the side streets, just a few meters long, leads to the Royal Square (Plaça Reial), a square with palm trees and arcaded buildings housing numerous breweries and restaurants.

• Font de Canaletes - Font de Canaletes is an ornate fountain topped with a lamp post, located at the upper end of La Rambla, near Plaça de Catalunya.

It has been a gathering spot for football fans after Barça matches since the 1930s.

• Mercat de la Boqueria - La Boqueria is a large public market and one of the city’s top tourist landmarks, with an entrance from La Rambla.

The market offers a wide variety of goods.

• Gran Teatre del Liceu - El Liceu is an opera house located on La Rambla. It is the oldest running theater in Barcelona.
• Placa Reial - The Royal Square, or Plaça Reial in Catalan, is a popular tourist spot, especially at night. The plaza is home to many restaurants and some of the city’s most famous nightclubs.

The original building on the site was the Capuchin convent of Santa Madrona, which was demolished in 1835. The Royal Square was then designed by Francesc Daniel Molina i Casamajó later in the 19th century. The square is twinned with Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City.

The square’s lampposts were designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.

• Mirador de Colom - The Columbus Monument stands 60 meters (197 feet) tall and is located at the lower end of La Rambla.

It was built for the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition to honor Columbus’s first voyage to the Americas. The monument serves as a reminder that Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand V in Barcelona after his first trip to the New World.
