Before embarking on your tour to explore the sights of Barcelona, your guide will demonstrate how to safely operate the personal transporter. Once you feel comfortable, the tour will commence.

During your 1-hour tour, you will enjoy a brief Segway experience in one of the most picturesque areas of Barcelona - the Old Port. The history of this location dates back to the 4th century BC when Barcelona was inhabited by the Laietani. Barkeno, located on Montjuïc, was their primary settlement. However, Port Vell began its port activities in the 1st century AD when the Romans established the colony of Barcino. The port you see today was constructed as part of an urban renewal program before the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Prior to this, it was a neglected area filled with empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories.

You will explore the entire harbor, Palm Tree Boulevard, and the heart of the Old Port – Drassanes. Here, you can visit the Barcelona Royal Shipyard, which now houses the Barcelona Maritime Museum. Construction began in the 13th century under the rule of Peter III of Aragon, and the shipyard’s restoration was completed in early 2013. The museum reopened in 2014.

Along the way, you will admire Barcelona’s unique monuments. For instance, the Monument of Columbus is a 60-meter tall tribute to Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla, the main street of the old town. It was erected for the 1888 World’s Fair in honor of Columbus’s first voyage to the Americas.

You will also be impressed by the Head of Barcelona, a 20-meter sculpture created by American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein for the 1992 Summer Olympics. It incorporates styles from three of the city’s most renowned artists: Antoni Gaudí, Pablo Picasso, and Joan Miró. Nearby, you will find the Gambrinus Lobster Statue, originally part of the decor at the Gambrinus seafood restaurant. The 10-meter long fiberglass sculpture was designed and built by Spanish artist Javier Mariscal. When the restaurant closed, the statue was acquired by the Barcelona city council.
