Highlights
  • Porxos d’en Xifré - The Porxos d’en Xifré is a historic building of Barcelona which was inaugurated in 1840 after four years of works. It occupies the block formed by the Passeig d’Isabel II, the Pla de Palau and the streets of Reina Cristina and Llauder, plots of land that were urbanized in 1834 as a result of the demolition of the sea wall. The building was the first to appear in daguerreotype done in Spain and is decorated with Masonic symbols. But did you know that it was the first place where Picasso lived when his family moved to Barcelona?

The exact point where Picasso’s family lived was the current number 4 of the Passeig d’Isabel II, where before a boarding house had been.

Additional Information

Picasso bore a potent affection for Barcelona, a sentiment this tour seeks to emote. Arriving in 1895 at the tender age of 13, the young Picasso plunged into spirited escapades with comrades – the earliest to discern his prodigious capabilities and introduce him to the concealed delights of brothels. Barcelona was also the birthplace of Picasso’s maiden studio and the location where he formulated his inaugural engraving, initial illustration, and launched his first exhibition at the iconic 4 Gats restaurant. Nine years on, at age 22, Picasso departed for Paris, never to reside in Barcelona again. Yet, for Picasso, Barcelona forever held its position as the wondrous city that had enamored him during his adolescence, unveiling to him the wonders of modernity.

Only go with the tour! - Great guide and the only way to go to the museum. Appreciate it so much more with someone explaining Picasso's journey to becoming Picasso.

Rowena at Picasso Museum is great - Rowena did a great job! Also went out of her way to assist a member of our party who was detained in transit. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience with the guided tour - Excellent guided tour in English. Can really recommend it highly. There is so much to see, and our guide, Rumina, was fantastic. Made it interesting and relevant for all ages within the group. Would not have gotten as much out of the museum without this guided tour. Thanks again Rumina.

Who Knew Picasso Could be so Much Fun! - Anna Ruiz was an encyclopedia of Picasso knowledge - and made learning about Picasso fun. After the walking around, our little group was ready for lunch, Anna recommended a great little restaurant for us where we had fun eating tapas and a decadent chocolate dessert - while discussing the things we had seen and learned. We all agreed that we never knew 3 hours of Picasso would be so much fun!

A must see stop! - This museum is awesome! If you love Picasso or dont know much about him go here. It's his early work and without a guide you can just see his progression and how he pushes boundaries. A must see.

Great Guide but logistics need improvement - Our tour guide Valentina was one of the best we have had! She is very knowledgeable. She was on time and communicated with us via text. The only glitch was that the meet up location indicated on the Voucher was not correct and we had to scramble to get to the correct spot.

Disaster at the Picasso Museum: Unexpected Time Change Ruins Visit and No Refund from ICONO and GetYourGuide - We booked this tour from "Getyourguide" excited about having to visit the Picasso museum accompanied by an English-speaking guide. We were looking forward to seeing Picasso's works. It was my mother's wish to visit the museum ever since she graduated with a degree in art. However, the day before the visit, we were contacted by the agency "ICONO Barcelona Cultural Services", and we were informed that our visit had changed time. Our itinerary had already been planned days before and having undergone that change upset all our plans. We had another visit scheduled at that time. Even though we told the guide that the time didn't suit us because we had organized differently, they told us that if we didn't go we would miss the tour. We went to the museum unfortunately, but predictably, late, discovering that our guide had no intention of letting us in. Very important note. WE WERE NOT EVEN REFUNDED FOR OUR MONEY, EVEN EVEN THE BLAME FOR OUR DELAY WAS DUE TO THEIR TIME CHANGE MADE WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION.

Bored!!! - We arrived at the Picasso museum with tickets purchased on Get your Guide and the museum administration said they don't work with this app. It didn't recognize our tickets and our only option to enter the museum was to pay again. I was very upset and I'm trying to get my money back. I have already sent an email and am waiting for a response!!!
