Impressive building and well curated artwork - Don't miss the Romanesque wing. They have a process (see the video) to remove decaying art from 1000 year old church walls. In MNAC, they replicated the walls, then reapplied the art. Although they don't have 'famous' pieces, the art is well curated and arranged. The building itself is impressive.

Great Collection of Seldom Seen Art - This museum is fun to visit because the building was built for the 1929 exhibition. As such the building has many public spaces such as a large meeting hall and rooftop access for great views of the city. But the Building also houses an outstanding art collection with the bulk focused on Catalonian artists. You will not find well known artists here with their great masterpieces. Instead you find a sublime collection of modernist art (1800’s early 1900’s) that is thematically arranged (landscapes, exotic, portraits, ect). Because late 1800’s art usually focuses on Realism and Impressionism modernist art does not get much gallery space, but in this museum nearly 50 rooms house painting from this period and I found it just wonderful. Each room had an overview in English and Catalonian and the works (which included furniture and utilitarian objects but mostly paintings) were well represented.

A large and amazing museum housed in a huge Palace - Muzeul National de arta catalana este adapostit de un palat imens, construit in stil italian in anul 1929. The palace is located on Montjuic hill, near Plaza Espana. We visited the collections - Medieval Gothic Art, Renaissance and Baroque Art, and Modern Art. We appreciated the multitude of sculptures, paintings and other valuable artifacts. We rested with a coffee in the museum's amphitheater, then went up to the museum's roof, from where we admired the panorama of Barcelona. I hardly recommend a visit here.

Beautiful museum - Beautiful museum with an interesting collection of paintings and furnishings from the era of Catalan modernism. The collection of Romanesque art is also remarkable. Beautiful photos from the roof top

Rainy Day Visit - It's been raining in Spain for weeks. They tell me this is unusual for March. This was our last adventure and we needed to kill time before checking in to a hotel. This museum has huge bins where you can store all your luggage for free! If you are over 65 or a teacher it is free to enter. They also have a great cafeteria called "Oval." The art here was amazing and we spent 4 hours seeing all the Gothic, Romanesque, and Modern art. There were many famous works I recognized and lots of not so famous but fabulous as well. Highly recommended.

Beautiful building - The art was fantastic and well organized. I think the building itself often outshined it. The oval is an amazing space. We enjoyed our visit a lot. I found the lay out slightly confusing and wish there were more "you are here" style maps. There are escalators leading up to the building but at least when we visited there were no working down escalators so there were a lot of steps to get us back to the metro.

A good selection of art to view. - The museum is at the top of the hill with an excellent view over the city. There a wide selection of art for every taste. I enjoyed the modern art section and could have done with more time to go round other sections of the museum,

Unfriendly to disabled - Rude employees who are unfriendly to disabled. When we asked the young man at the information desk (May 20, approximately 1630) where the elevators were, he said there were none. So I clarified and asked “so if someone were in a wheelchair, they would not be able to visit?” He said he didn’t see anyone in a wheelchair and asked if there was a person in a wheelchair here now? As though being wheelchair bound is the only disability - and as though he is qualified to judge who is disabled and who is not. Do not recommend.
