Highlights
  • Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar - On most tours we pass by this sensational Gothic masterpiece and admire the rose-window façade, before exploring the rest of El Born.
  • El Born - We love to show travellers the hidden back streets of the Born district, full of secrets, boutiques, artisan shops and cosy cafes…. the central ‘square’ used to be a medieval jousting ground!
  • Parc de la Ciutadella - This gorgeous park is named after the citadel that once sat here. We explore its many points of interest, including a fountain partially-designed by Gaudi, and get some oxygen in our lungs.
  • Torre Agbar - This phallic-shaped wonder is one of the most iconic buildings in Barcelona. We marvel at its multi-hued exterior and discuss the modernisation of the city.
  • Los Encantes Barcelona - We often stop off at this charming old flea market and shop for kitsch souvenirs, or stop for a snack. The entire area has been revitalised in recent years.
  • El Poblenou - This former industrial district is full of treasures, such as modern parks, neoclassical cemeteries, street art, superblocks, and dazzling new architectural projects. Its quieter than the centre and ideal for cycling around.
  • Port Olimpic - Built for the 1992 Olympic Games this shining white marina transformed Barcelona’s coast and is full of bars, clubs and modern sculptures… like Frank Gehry’s golden fish.
  • Playa de La Barceloneta - No cycle ride in Barcelona is complete without a ride along the beach. We normally reserve this route for the way home, enjoying the sun on our faces and the carnival atmosphere of this crazy playa.

Fun Way To See and Learn About Barcelona’s History - Had trouble finding where the tour began due to construction in the area, but once I did, it was a lot of fun. Guide was very personable, informative and did a great job moving us through the route that at times went through some narrow alleys with lots of pedestrians. Learned a lot and would highly recommend exploring Barcelona by taking this bike tour.

Barcelona City Bike Tour at it's Best! - Biking is the best way to see all the various districts of this beautiful city and it can be done in 1/2 day. Then you can go back to the places you liked the most for more in depth touring. Bella, our guide from Germany, was patient and knowledgeable with a great attitude. We took breaks when needed and spent a wonderful day with her and our group. Just be mindful you ride through some really narrow streets with pedestrian crowds and the street traffic crosswalks can be challenging--you've got to be careful and prepared.

Great tour. - Great Tour. Little sketchy navigating people, cars, scooters, taxis, etc, but so fun! Got to see and hear lots about the city! Highly recommend. I’d suggest doing early in the trip so that you know the places you want to go back to.

Best Way to see Barcelona! - Amazing time! Latissia was our guide and she taught us so much about the history of Spain and some fun lesser known insider info as well. The route is fabulous and you see so much of the city!

Awesome tour of Barcelona - This tour was a wonderful introduction to Barcelona. Our guide, Claudia, took us from El Poble Nou to Gracia and back while sharing information and anecdotes about each area we passed. We were fueled by stops for tiger milk, gelato and ice cream along the way. We stopped at various landmarks along the way and Claudia explained their significance and described many of the development and improvement projects underway in the city. As we were first time visitors, this was a wonderful way to see some of the many neighborhoods away from the tourist centers of Barcelona. I highly recommend this tour.

Good tour and guide but disorganized company. - Claudia our guide and the actual tour were very good. The company itself leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure it is actually Donkey tours anymore as we were with ocean bikes which was never mentioned by Donkey Tours. Their directions said to gather at Ocean bikes but did not highlight it was with them. Their is a very small sign on the door of a sailing shop saying it was also Ocean bikes but when closed there is absolutely no indication that it has anything to do with biking that is legible beyond 25 feet. I was there 40 minutes early wandering around trying to find Donkey tours. Was within 40 feet a few times. But only when they opened at 10 on the nose was there any indication as bikes were outside but I was far away by then.

Not recommended for experienced cyclists - Not what I thought I signed up. Our guide (from Argentina, living in Barcelona for 20 years) wasn't a good leader and just rode off at times without people from the group. Three people in the group got left behind one time because she rode off without making sure everyone knew where we were going. She also took us to many small alleys where we could hardly ride and had to dismount and walk the bikes many times. On top of that, she took us to areas where her friends had shops and tried to get us to go inside but everyone in the group was frustrated by that point and knew what she was trying to do. Would not recommend it if you're an experienced cyclist and trying to explore the city via the vast bike lanes they have.
