Next, we will journey to the city of Matera, admired for its beautiful Sassi and celebrated as the European Capital of Culture 2019. A trip through the Sassi di Matera is an exploration of an amazing rock settlement harmoniously integrated with the ecosystem and surrounding territory. Throughout the tour, we will stop by two cave churches, Sant’Antonio Abate, and Casa Grotta - a traditional dwelling preserved from before the desertion of the Sassi. This house has been maintained with artefacts, instruments, and furniture of the time, providing valuable insights into the lives of the agrarian population.
