Kriens - In terms of population, Kriens is the third largest municipality and the second largest city in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. It lies at the foot of Mount Pilatus and borders Lucerne to the east.
A short walk takes you to the cableway station of the Pilatus gondola. -
Pilatus-Bahnen AG - You board one of the aerial cableways (mentioned as gondola in Switzerland) to hoover via Krienseregg to Fräkmüntegg. Travel time is 20 minutes.

Krienseregg - The Krienseregg is perfect for families. In the versatile local recreation area you will find marked, varied circular hikes and large picnic areas

Fräkmüntegg - At Fräkmüntegg you change on the 60-people gondola for the final ascent. Travel time is 6 minutes.

Pilatus Luzern - Arrive at the mountain station Pilatus Kulm, where a viewing terrace, a panorama gallery and two mountain hotels are located on the scenic local mountain.
Visit several attractions at Mt. Pilatus like the dragon gallery, the viewpoint, the scenic terraces and the multimedia presentation. After your lunch and visit, you travel the same way back by gondola to Luzern. -
Kriens - Boarding the electric bus for the 10 minutes ride to Luzern, where you will board the Bürgenstock-Shuttle Catamaran boat.

Luzern - As the old town of Luzern is just footsteps away, you can spend some time at your own in Luzern or you just travel back to your starting point in Basel. The train journey to Basel takes one hour.

You’ll find Mt. Pilatus, with 73 stunning alpine peaks and innumerable lakes, offering a unique and unforgettable panoramic view. Situated just outside Luzern, the off-season excursion (Oct-May) starts from Basel, takes you through Luzern and then a mere 10-minute journey from the city center to Kriens. Here, you ascend Mt. Pilatus via a picturesque aerial cableway.
Abundant attractions and two eateries can be found on Mount Pilatus, or you may just prefer to bask on the spacious viewing deck.
Post your visit to Mt. Pilatus, avail yourself of a brief stroll in the city of Luzern before making your way back to Basel.
Do note that this tour is operative only from October to May, standing in for the famed ‘golden round trip’ when the cogwheel train to Mt. Pilatus is not in service.
