- His Majesty’s Prison (Basseterre) - Built in 1840 for 82 inmates, this prison in Saint Kitts now holds around 320 inmates, including pretrial detainees mixed with convicted prisoners. Most have beds, though some sleep on blankets on the floor.
- St. George’s Anglican Church - The largest church in Basseterre, located at the head of Church Street. It resembles an English parish church with heavy andesite rock walls and a slate roof. The church has a history of rising from adversity, much like the mythical Phoenix.
- Government Headquarters - Located on Church Street, this site once housed the Newstead and Waterloo buildings and some smaller residences. In the late 19th century, the lower western corner of Church and Central Street was dominated by the Newstead Hotel.
