Enjoyable and informative - Late in the season, so we saw no whales or dolphins. Did see Sunfish, tuna and lots of birds. A fun, informative afternoon.

Best boat tour we've ever had!!! - The crew of Liam, Michael, and Patrick provided an outstanding tour! They provided local history, geology, and ecology education in an entertaining and engaging format. Make sure Liam sings for you, his shanties are outstanding!!

Fantastic day! - By far the highlight of our trip, even without whales! We had the pleasure of joining Matt, Patrick and Liam on a tour during a short visit to St. John's. Even though it's late in the season, we saw hundreds of puffin, countless eagles, ducks and gulls. We also saw an enormous ocean sunfish, which was a joy to behold. The captain was able to maneuver the boat so precisely to ensure every person was able to see - and he and the crew double checked with everyone to make sure no one missed a moment. They honestly couldn't have been more accommodating, professional and kind. Liam was so much fun as well, with a sharp wit and beautiful singing voice to boot. We were Screeched In - and we were so glad we did because it was a blast! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt very lucky to experience the area with such knowledgeable locals who respect and love Newfoundland. If you're on the fence about it, don't be. It was worth every penny!

Amazing seafaring experience! - Fantastic experience! Out in the ocean, we saw several sunfish and dozens of puffins! No whales, though we were not expecting to see them this late in the season. The guide was wonderful. Loved being out in the boat, feeling the waves, seeing the beautiful Newfoundland coast and watching for local wildlife - truly enjoyed every minute. Popped by the Stone Ducky after for some very tasty fish and chips! Highly recommend!

This is the Newfoundland boat tour you want to go on! - I took a day off in Bay Bulls from hiking on the East Coast trail, and spent it very happily on this boat tour! If you are going this late in the summer you are likely not going to see whales (though there's a chance!), because it isn't quite the right season for it, but we did see a sun fish and went over to see the puffins on the Witless Bay Ecological reserve. You are going to see a whole ton of them, as well as a few other bird species, though it may be a challenge to get a close-up using a phone camera, so I'd bring a proper camera with a lens if you want a money shot. We had a good amount of rain and wind for our tour, which honestly to me that was part of the fun, but I'd have a good rain jacket or poncho ready. You should be able to pick something up at the gift shop if not! We had great, informative, and entertaining commentary about the area and the wildlife on the tour and some sea shanties too! Personally, the whole O'Brien family was just incredibly welcoming and friendly to me, as I was travelling alone, and they really were a highlight of my stay in Bay Bulls and my trip to Newfoundland. Highly recommended.

Great family experience - O’brien’s tour and crew were awesome! We did not go at the right time of year to see whales but we still saw some puffins and the crew went out of their way to make sure we got up close to some sunfish when the opportunity arose. My husband and I brought our infant on board in a carrier and he had a blast. The boat felt safe and everyone was comfortable. Such an amazing experience. We will be back during whale season for sure.

Regardless of weather, the tour is great! - The instructions to gather and to get on board was clear. It may not matter when you board the vessel as everyone is free to walk around the deck if one feels safe when the boat is at sea. The safety briefing was clear and concise. Everyone was briefed and subtly advised to manage our expectations at the start of the boat tour. The crew are knowledgeable and always eager to share more! And... if you like, one can get "screeched in" (a Newfoundland tradition where one can become an honorary Newfoundlander) on board. The tour starts and ends on time, so be there early! PLUS there is gift shop and it is a great place to get an extra pullover (when needed).
