Wild Polynesian - Anna was a great guide and Tangy made a delicious lunch. It’s a completely unspoiled valley. I wish we had made it to the waterfall.

Best excursion!! Sign up! You won't regret it! - This excusion with Ana and Tandy was by far the best excursion of our 35 day cruise. Excellent!! If you want to learn first hand about the history and culture of Nuku Hava, sign up! Ana led us on the hike while Tandy made us a delicious lunch. Kudos to the boat taxi, too. He was waiting for us at the tendering dock. Bring water and hiking shoes and water. Get ready to sweat!

Don’t miss this experience! - This is the best!!!!! What fun it was to meet Ana and Tangy! They are delightful! Very friendly and welcoming! The boat ride worked perfectly to their valley where they were waiting for us. The hike was beautiful and an adventure! Lunch was ready when we arrived back. Tangy is a great cook! Delicious food! We were on a cruise and everyone in our group had a good time. We made it back in plenty of time to get back on the ship. Don’t miss this delightful experience!

Adventurous and Amazing - This was a great experience and would recommend. The waterfall was not running when we were there but still a great adventure. Ana and Tangy were the best hosts and guides. Assisted our group from start to finish along with the boat transfer. Wear your water shoes and get ready for incredible views!

We loved this, Tangy and... - We loved this, Tangy and Ana were so accommodating. The waterfall was not running, only does during the rainy season starting in April. It was still a beautiful hike.

Highlight of our trip - We spent 3 weeks in French Polynesia, last 10 days in the Marquesas. Visiting Hakaui was one of the highlights of the whole trip. We felt privileged to be able to visit their valley and have them share their lifestyle as well as the history of the valley. Ana and Tangy are both warm, friendly people who put everyone at ease. We were fortunate that conditions allowed us to go inside the waterfall on the hike. It was the most spectacular waterfall we’ve ever seen. If you want to get off the regular tourist track and have a more intimate experience then Hakaui should be on your list.

Wonderful trip with Ana and Tangy! - The trip to hike with Anna and Tangy was amazing. Anna took us on the hike while Tangy stayed back at their home and prepared us a lunch to eat after the hike. It was so much fun to learn about how they lived about their customs and rituals. By far the best thing to do when you’re visiting the island. Wish I would’ve read Ana’s book before the trip, but I’ll definitely purchase the book and read it after the trip.

Hidden Gem - This tour was the highlight of our French Polynesia trip. While many rave about Bora Bora and Tahiti, the Marquesas Islands are the true hidden gems of Polynesia. Ana and Tangi warmly welcomed us into their home and shared the breathtaking beauty of their land. The hike itself was spectacular, offering dramatic scenery that is truly unmatched (some even compare its prehistoric landscape to Jurassic Park). Along the way, we learned about the local way of life, the challenges faced by the community, and the rich culture of the Marquesan people, making the experience not only visually stunning but also deeply enriching. To top it off, the meal served at the end of the hike was absolutely delicious and incredibly satisfying. A word of advice: don’t forget to bring mosquito spray! This tour is an unforgettable adventure and a must-do when visiting French Polynesia

Once in a lifetime experience. - This is one of the top excursions we ever took! If you ever come to this island you have to do this. The scenery is amazing. Make sure you wear good shoes because the trail is rocky. The couple that run this are phenomenal. I can’t say enough good things about it.

Beautiful day in paradise! - This was a great experience with a beautiful landscape and a glimpse into their culture and everyday living experience. The hike is not for the faint of heart, it’s strenuous. The meal they prepared was wonderful! If you have any physical limitations, this is not for you. Thanks Ana and Tangy!
