Yummy rum - Although the tour was short, our guide Timmy was very knowledgeable and answered all the group's questions. He was very insightful and funny at the rum tasting.

Mixology and Authentic Rum Tour - Capstone of Puerto Rico - This is the best rum-tasting and mixology tour in Puerto Rico. The location is outside San Juan, but it is worth the trip. The staff and tour guides are professional and knowledgeable and treat each guest respectfully. Our guide was Valeria, and she took the time to explain the history of the Ron del Barrilito hacienda, how the rum is made and stored. The mixology course was informative and fun. We made three delicious drinks: an old fashion. The En Canto and the traditional Pina Colada.
Do not leave Puerto Rico until you take this tour and do the mixology course. It is terrific.

Lots of fun - This is a pretty good value as you get a welcome drink, and then during the tour you get a tasting of their 4 rums. I would recommend.

A Highlight of Our Week in Puerto Rico - We had a great time on the tour. Our guide Pedro was very informative and nice. The facilities are impressive and the rum tastes outstanding. The bartenders who made the rum-based cocktail samples there were excellent and we loved their drinks. Our visit to the distillery was definitely a highlight of our week in Puerto Rico.

Great experience! - Such a great experience! Octavio was our tour guide, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about all things rum (Ron de Barrilito and otherwise!). We had a small group, and Octavio took time for all of our questions. We had originally planned to go to Bacardí until one of our bartenders here served us Ron de Barrilito, and we were so glad we switched - this is a much smaller operation, but it’s the oldest rum maker in Puerto Rico, and was family owned for most of its history. We really enjoyed trying the four and five star versions, which can only be purchased here or at the airport. Highly recommend a visit!

Run to Ron del Barrilito’s - I am SO glad that we chose Ron del Barrilito’s for this experience! Very, very lovely people greeted us as we waited for our tour to begin. They gave us a coin for a free drink (which was delicious). We went through the family home and distillery, as well as the barrel house. So much history about the making of rum! Then we got to the good stuff! We tried five different bottles of their delicious rum, from their one-star bottle all the way up to the five star (which sells for a mere $750. 😮 This was a fun, informative tour. Thank you, Viator!

GREAT Experience! - We really enjoyed this tour & tasting. It's such a charming facility with a great bar (best Piña Colada we had all week.) The tour was at just the right time of day and was fun and informative but not too long. The tasting was really special - LOVED getting to try everything! Would highly recommend this experience while in Puerto Rico!

Fun but overpriced - Had we not paid $90 (incl tax) for this hour-long tour, I might have been a little more generous with my rating of 3 blobs. Overall, the tour felt somewhat rushed and perfunctory with no visit to the distillery itself, only a distant view of the barrel store. As such, you don't get to smell the celebrated aromas that are, by repute, an unforgettable memory of such an atmospheric space.
The way I justified such expenditure to myself when I booked was the opportunity to try the 4 and 5 star editions which could easily cost $50 a shot in a bar. However, whilst highly commendable, if I am honest, I would say I have tasted better for less and so felt somewhat overcharged for the experience.
On the up-side, the 'complimentary' cocktails were truly a work of art and delivered the best pina colada I had the whole time on Puerto Rico. If you arrive with little time to enjoy your cocktail, order it at the end so you can watch the skill and artistry of the highly talented mixologists.

Nice Rum History - Great tour guide! Just wish we had more time and more things to see. Also, more entertainment would have been nice. Overall I enjoyed the Rum and the history behind it.
