Penang Hill - This railway project was designed by Arnold R. Johnson, an engineer with the Federated Malay States Railways, based on a Swiss design. The 2,007m long funicular railway officially opened on January 1, 1924. The first carriages were wooden with distinct first and second-class compartments. These four carriages were in use for over 50 years until they were retired in 1977 and replaced with red carriages featuring fans and automatic sliding doors.
Penang War Museum - Initially a military fortress designed by the British in the 1930s, the 19.36-acre site offers a magnificent 320-degree view of the sea around the island, intended to defend the Straits of Malacca from Japanese attacks coming from the South channel.
World UNESCO Heritage City George Town
Dharmikarama Burmese Temple - Malaysia’s first Burmese temple, built in 1805, features beautiful statues of Buddha throughout the temple. There are separate temples within the compound showcasing different Buddha statues.
Penang Island - Built in 1786, Fort Cornwallis was intended as a defensive structure against pirates. Although initially built for the Royal Artillery troops and the military, it served more of an administrative function rather than an active defensive one.

Cheong Fatt Tze - The Blue Mansion - This stately 1880s manor stands out with its expressive indigo-blue facade. It features 38 rooms with art nouveau stained glass, Straits Chinese floor tiles, 220 timber frame windows, seven staircases, and five granite-paved courtyards.
Penang Island - The Clan Jetties, a series of six jetties that form part of the Penang Heritage Trail, are considered one of the last bastions of old Chinese settlements on the island.
Penang Island - P. Ramlee’s Birthplace is the quaint wooden house where Tan Sri P. Ramlee (1929-1973) was born on March 22, 1929. He was a celebrated singer, composer, film director, actor, and composer.
Penang - Nasi Kandar is a favorite northern Malaysian dish of mildly-flavored steamed rice accompanied by a variety of curry-based meat dishes and vegetables. To find the island’s best nasi kandar outlets, we considered three factors: the piquancy of the restaurant dishes for both locals and foreigners, the price of a meal, and the ambiance of each selected restaurant.
