Highlights

The Great Wall of Gubeikou - Gubeikou, along with the passes at Shanhaiguan in the east and Juyongguan in the west, was a key strategic target in military campaigns since ancient times. Protecting these three passes was considered vital for keeping Beijing safe from the Mongolian nomads. There was also a fierce battle between Chinese and Japanese in the 2nd World War. The vistas of the sinuous Wall snaking its way over the ridges of the Yanshan Mountain are breathtaking.

2 day Great Wall hike - Such an amazing trip. Gary was very helpful and responsive and my guide Oliver was knowledgeable and lovely. Hardly saw any other tourists in the two days and the views and hiking were outstanding. We stayed with a local farmer and made dumplings and drank rice wine. Perfect trip for those looking to truly experience the Wall away from their crowds. Highly recommend.

Best way to see The Great Wall of China! - We were able to customize the 2 day itinerary by adding an additional day and it was well worth the money! Commission from the main office was flawless as well as that of the trekking guide. Yashin our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the wall and local areas we traveled through. We had to make an adjustment one evening last minute and although he had never had a change in itinerary he handled it flawlessly! Everything went smoothly and with great ease! Jason our driver was always on time and his vehicle spotless. No difficulty with the language barrier either: Yashin spoke perfect English! I will say that although this was advertised as an intermediate trek it was a bit more challenging so I would prepare yourself a little beforehand. Accessing the wall each day involves a big of a vertical climb through the woods! Great trip, great company and the best way to see the wall!

Memories for the whole live - My husband, my daughter and I spent two days hiking and camping on and along the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty with our Guide Peter on the 13th/14th of August 2019. It was one of the highlights of our journey to China . Peter cared for us in such a touching way that it felt like family. Imagine sleeping in a tent at an old watchtower, having dinner freshly cooked by a local farmer - in fact it was the best dinner we had during our whole journey - and watching sunrise holding a cup of hot Chinese tea in one hand and a warm, soft Chinese pancake in the other. During our hike we didn't meet anybody - unusal and hardly unbelievable for Chinese conditions. However, You are recommended not to underestimate length and steepness of the tour, but If You are used to walking and hiking in Your leisure time, You we will be definitely fine. Finally, I would say, it was Peter, who made this tour an unforgetable experience for the three of us and at least it should be noted that Peter is a great fotographer who took lots of pictures of us. Thank You Peter

Exhilarating: Gubeikou & Jinshanling - First time, 2 days, 1 night on the Great Wall. Definitely a re-do with Great Wall Adventure Club. Day 1: Jiankou-Mintanyu-- 8 miles and 140 flights of stairs! #walking poles & hightop hiking boots! Day 2: Gubeikou - Jinshanling-- 5 miles and 200 flights of stairs! The guide was patient and very knowledgeable, we felt we were in good hands. However, our guide tried to avoid paying the wall & gondola fees and made us walk- Until I caught on and reminded him our trip was 'all inclusive'. Also, make sure he doesn't make you hike TO the wall. First day we hiked 1.25 hours up the mountain to reach the great wall. If you don't see the wall when the driver drops you off, that means your hiking to it!! I want to spend my time ON the wall. I'm still giving the company a great review, as I would use them again. Recommend you make things clear up front.

An Incredible Life Experience! - This was an amazing, incredible life experience. The hikes were incredible, (though day 1 was hot and day 2 was wet). The guide, who is also the innkeeper at the Great Wall Inn Gubeikou was friendly, helpful, spoke english and is as sure-footed as a mountain goat! Great Wall Hiking provided cold water (though I brought my own water too) as well as a much appreciated and helpful hiking stick. The accommodations at the Great Wall Inn Gubeikou were wonderful - it is clean, comfortable and the homemade food is delicious! You can see my review here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294212-d15273846-r702129107-Great_Wall_Inn_Gubeikou-Beijing.html I highly recommend this adventure and highly recommend Great Wall Hiking!

This is the way to see the Great Wall! - Our guide Robert was exceptional. Very friendly and very supportive of all hikers irrespective of their fitness. We spent most of two days hiking on parts of the wall where we saw very few other people. Much of the wall was quite damaged and overgrown with brush but this made the experience incredible. Rather than seeing rebuilt bits of the wall with thousands of tourists, you are hiking in the wild, on the wall, with Robert's incredible descriptions of the history of the wall.

Absolutely stunning and impressive - must see!! - We went on a private two day tour with Luis. It was my husband and me with our 1 1/2 year old daughter, which was no problem at all. We could always stop when we needed to and go at our possible pace. Luis was a great guide!! We learned a lot about China in general and especially about the wall. There were a lot of times, where we had the option to decide, if we wanted to go further or walk less. We spent the night at a small bed and breakfast with amazing food and very friendly people. It was great to see a bit of the rural life outside of Beijing. the hot pot lunch the next day rounded up this great experience. We felt like we really got to see some real life in China. The wall is something very special and especially the wilder not restored parts were amazing to see. Unbelievable what they built and the only way to really see it and get an idea is to walk a part of it. Thank you Luis and we can only recommend doing this tour! it is worth the money.

GWPA22- Magic Great Wall Hiking- Two-day Jiankou to Simatai West - What an amazing tour. The tour starts with a very difficult Hike up the mountain. Then once you get up to the Great Wall, the walk is much easier. There are still tons of stairs, but it is very manageable. They said the tour is 4/5 difficult and the first part is, but the rest of the tour is 3/5 at worst. The second day is much easier than the first. I highly suggest taking the toboggans down from the wall (not included in the tour) After the first day we stayed at a nice little hotel with maybe 8 rooms. It was small an cozy and included all the food and drinks you could want. The water for shower was cold, but that was the only negative. The tour guide was amazing. He taught us so much about the history and had a bunch of fun stories to go along with it. His English was near perfect and we never had an issue communicating with him. The tour guide was constantly offering us snacks (Snickers and Nuts) and water. Couldn't overstate how much water they brought for us, it was perfect. Of the 6 tours we did in China (Beijing and Shanghai), this was easily the best. Well worth the money.
