Your friendly tour guide and driver will meet you at approximately 8:30 am in your hotel lobby, and then proceed to Fayuan Temple, the oldest Buddhist Temple in Beijing. Spend about 40 minutes appreciating the architecture, Buddhist statues, and the serene atmosphere of this ancient Temple. You’ll notice that there aren’t many tourists here, as Fayuan Temple is primarily visited by local Buddhists.

After enjoying the tranquility of this historic Temple, take a 20-minute drive to Maliandao Tea City. (Maliandao is the name of the street where the tea shops and markets are located). Maliandao Tea City is the largest tea market on the street and is a hub for the wholesale business of tea and tea utensils.

Your guide will first introduce you to the various types of tea and the different tea pots, cups, and sets available. Then, visit a local tea house to experience a tea ceremony. You’ll sample 4 or 5 different kinds of tea, enjoy some tea snacks, and learn about Chinese tea culture. After the tea tasting, you’ll receive a small gift of your favorite tea (8 to 20 grams).

Since Maliandao Tea City is a wholesale market for tea and a popular spot for locals, the prices for tea and tea sets are much lower than those in other shops or tourist markets. You can spend another half hour exploring and purchasing tea for your family and friends.

Afterward, the tour guide and driver will return you to your hotel.
