A nice city escape! - I live in Beijing. I booked this private tour to escape the city for a few hours and it was just what I expected. Qing and her driver picked me up from the city centre at 8:30am and we arrived to Longqing Gorge about 2 hours later. I was surprised to see that it was not as busy as I thought it would be for a Saturday. Most visitors were Beijingers looking to enjoy a break from the city as well. First we went up the Dragon Escalator to reach the top of the dam. From there we hopped on a boat to enjoy the cruise along the gorge. The scenery was very beautiful and Qing explained the different rock formations that could be seen. This was my favorite part of the trip and I wished the boat ride was longer. When we got off the boat there were several activities available: bungee jumping, canoeing, zip lining. We hiked up the hill to visit the quiet and beautiful Diamond Temple, the smell of incense burning was lovely. The second boat trip took us back to the cable car, which took us to the other side of the gorge where we hiked many steps to reach the highest point for views. Unfortunately, the sky was a little hazy, but on a clear day the views from above would have been spectacular. Qing was lovely! She was happy to take breaks when I got tired and we had interesting conversations about Chinese culture. On our way back, we had lunch at a small, family-run restaurant near the Dragon Escalator. Qing ordered some tasty dishes for us and we enjoyed a quiet lunch. Again, the place was not busy at all. The owner of the restaurant was very kind to drive us back down to the entrance of the gorge (where our driver was waiting for us), which I appreciated very much because it would have otherwise been a 15-minute walk in the heat on a full stomach. Qing is a very cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable guide who made this visit very nice. I enjoyed my day trip out of Beijing and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something new to see on the city outskirts.

Lucy is an amazing tour guide! - We spent a full day with Lucy (Mei Dong) who picked us up from our hotel in the center of Beijing. With first went to the Longqing Gorge which is sort of like a mini version of the the Three Gorges river cruise in southern China. It was not crowded and very relaxing with spectacular scenery. Afterwards Lucy took us to some local cuisine that was much better than the typical tour bus food most foreigners eat when visiting attractions in China. After lunch we finished up the day visiting Badaling. This is a very crowded part of the Great Wall so having a friendly guide that knows all the best spots to take photos was a big plus! Since no trip to Beijing is complete without a trip to the wall I suggest you take this inexpensive trip and let Lucy be your guide!

An amazing visit - We had an unbelievable tour to Longqing gorge. This was our second visit to Beijing and we were looking for something different. Longqing is a spectacular gorge, with a beautiful boat ride. Vivian, our tour guide did an excellent job in explaining and was patient with our slow walking. On the way back to Beijing we asked if it would be possible to make a stop by the Great Wall just for pictures and she knew exactly where to take us. She also took tons of pictures for us including some fun panos. We had a wonderful memorable day and Vivian was a huge part why.

private day tour - We were picked up in our hotel, exactly at 10 AM as confirmed the day before. Seems to be a bit late to start this tour. As the car trip takes already 1 1/2 hour to get there, and at least the same back to the hotel; apparently our guide & driver wanted to be back in Beijing before 17 PM. Consequently, skipping the cable car and hurry up visiting and lunching. Nevertheless, the boat ride was quite nice. The gorge is beautiful. Lunch is also OK, simple but tastfull. No critics at all. We would really have enjoyed more time to really appreciate this tour. So, I recommend to start at 8 or latest 9 AM. And for what we had now, what we paid for was really far too much. Better to look around at the numerous local tour operators, who can offer the same at a far lower price !
