• Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - Begin your day at 8:00 a.m. with a visit to Tian’anmen Square, the world’s largest city-center square. Here, you’ll encounter several of Beijing’s iconic landmarks:
 • Great Hall of the People (Renmin Dahuitang) - This is the tallest building on the Square, constructed in just 10 months and completed in 1959.
 • Chairman Mao Memorial Hall (Maozhuxi Jiniantang) - Built in 1977, a year after Chairman Mao’s death, this hall serves as a memorial to him.
 • Monument of the People’s Heroes - Erected in 1951, this monument honors the millions of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the Chinese revolutionary cause.
 • Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - Next, head north to the Forbidden City, the residence of Ming and Qing Emperors for over 500 years. It is the largest and best-preserved Imperial Palace in the world. Key sites include:
 • Meridian Gate (Wu Men) - The southern and main entrance to the Forbidden City, believed by Ming and Qing emperors to align with the Meridian Line.
 • Hall of Great Harmony (Taihe Dian) - The largest wooden structure in China, this hall was the Emperor’s workplace and the site of important ceremonies.
 • Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohedian) - Named to signify the maintenance of harmonious relationships, this hall was used for banquets and later for imperial examinations under the emperor’s supervision.
 • Inner Court - The Inner Court served as the Emperor’s living quarters, while the outer court was designated for work.
 • The Imperial Garden of The Palace Museum - Located in the northern part of the Forbidden City, this garden features over 20 types of buildings, pavilions, terraces, towers, and rockeries. Four pavilions in the garden represent the four seasons.

A great itinerary and a great guide - Our guide was Angie. She met us at the hotel on time and we got on our way. Angie spoke excellent English and there were no language barriers. She was friendly and informative and made the day fun. Angie knew her history and we never get rushed. The tour itself was well structured and there was plenty of time to get around each site. I would recommend this tour to anyone staying in Beijing for a short time.

Wonderful tour with Dana - After comparing many tours I chose to use WikiBeijing for our city tour. Dana was absolutely fantastic, she not only knows her history, but she catered the day to our family of 7 and made us all very comfortable. We were also impressed with her knowledge of Western culture and the nuisances she included in the tour because of it. Highly recommend!

What a perfect day seeing the sights... -
What a perfect day seeing the sights around Beijing. My guide Crystal did a fantastic job. She is a literal fountain of knowledge on Chinese history, language, and local customs. I couldn't ask for more: amazing sights and scenery, educational experience, and a delicious lunch. If, like me, you only have one free day in Beijing I highly recommend this tour and be sure to ask for Crystal.

This was a perfect way to get the... -
This was a perfect way to get the most out of a day in Beijing. Our guide Bruceli came highly recommended by other friends, and he really helped us have a truly spectacular time. Bruceli was able to give us so much insight into Chinese history and customs. He also knew how to navigate the sites in the most efficient way possible, saving us so much time and frustration. We were free to just enjoy being in these beautiful places. It was certainly the most relaxed I have ever been while sightseeing! We trusted him completely to order our lunch, and we had a PERFECT meal. So happy to have found Viator -- can't wait to see the rest of the world.
