A Journey of a Lifetime - Our visit to the Great Wall of Huanghuacheng in China was truly a bucket-list experience that exceeded all expectations. We booked a private van and were met by an English-speaking guide at the train station upon our early morning arrival from Shanghai. The drive to the location was delightful, offering scenic views that set the stage for an incredible day. This section of the Great Wall is particularly special for several reasons. It is well-preserved and located near a charming farming village, allowing us to interact with the local people. We had the chance to purchase fresh produce, including berries, eggs, and vegetables, and taste local foods. The Wall is situated along a water dam, providing breathtaking views of the wall against the backdrop of lush green mountains and serene water. We enjoyed various water activities, including paddling boats and canoeing. A highlight was taking a speed boat across the dam to reach a chestnut forest, where we relaxed in a Resthouse and savored grilled chestnuts. Our guide then took us to a nearby restaurant in the woods, where we picked fresh fish from the ponds and had them grilled on-site. The meal was absolutely delicious and perfectly complemented the day’s adventures. This visit to the Great Wall of Huanghuacheng was an unforgettable experience, combining stunning scenery, cultural encounters, and delicious food. It was an adventure of a lifetime that I’ll cherish forever.

Highly recommend - This was the highlight of my China tour. I am glad I chose this location because it is near the lake and is very beautiful. I visited in early June and the temperature here was cooler than Badaling and Mutianyu Great Wall. There were some Yellow flowers in bloom along the hillside, they made for scenic photos. The submerged wall is also a quite a unique feature for the wall. In addition, my tour guide Jerry was great company throughout the day. He has a nice sense of humor, so the 2.5 hour drive were not boring. He patiently answered all my, rather random, queries on Chinese history and traditions. At the wall, he was accommodating of time and customised our trek as per my requests. Further, at the end of the hot day we stopped by for a delicious meal at a roadside restuarant. All-in-all it was a day well spent. I came back with a lifetime of precious memories of the Great Wall.

Private 2-day Great Wall hiking adventure! - DO THIS TOUR. This was an excellent and rare opportunity to see the beauty of the wall in isolation. I cannot emphasize this enough. We spent two days hiking on the wall and there was almost no one around. The only time we ran into other tourists was near the end of our hike on the first day when we got close to the section where we hike down. It was beautiful and we got to enjoy it without the stress of trying to walk around other people. This was such an epic experience. Our guide was Rocky and our driver was Wu. Both were fantastic! We had such a good time with both of them and they were so helpful to us throughout the experience and with other tips around Beijing. I highly recommend them both as guides. You stay overnight in a local, authentic guest house. This was such an interesting experience and you got to eat all local foods as well as part of the tour. You will not regret it! Thanks Rocky, Wu and Ricky for the experience!

Amazing day! - We did a full day excursion with tour guide David and our entire experience was amazing! From the planning process with Ricky, the driver pick up at the hotel, to the delicious local lunch, the entire hike, and David’s photography skills, the day couldn’t have been better! Ricky and David both are so accommodating and made this easily the best day of our entire trip. We really couldn’t recommend them more! A must do If you’re coming to Beijing!

Fabulous private tour in Beijing - My 2 young elementary children, my sister and my senior mother that uses an electric scooter took a private day tour with Wild Great Wall while we were in Beijing on a 22 hr layover. May who was our guide met us at our Hotel along with the driver in a van and drove us to the Great Wall early in the morning. We then went to a fabulous local Chinese restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. After lunch we headed to see the Chinese Panda’s. We also wanted to do a food tour which they accommodate before heading to the airport. May our guide was knowledgeable about Chinese history and spoke very well English. The driver also helped loading and unloading my mother’s electric scooters. My family and I truly enjoyed taking a tour with this company and we would do it again and highly recommend it.

Huang Hua Cheng - Breathtaking! I had a driver who got me to this part of the wall, it’s slightly on the outskirts of Beijing, about 2 hours from the CBD. It didn’t look like there were many public transportations around the area. I entered through a random entrance that had a little store right in-front of it, I paid 10yuan to enter (it wasn’t much but I’ve heard you don’t have to pay for some entrances). This part of the wall isn’t too commercialized yet as compared to Badaling and MuTianYu. As you climb further up the wall it becomes less restored! For someone like me who isn’t exceptionally fit, I managed the hike well. Just be sure to wear shoes with a good grip and/or have a walking stick! Also some snacks and a bottle of water will help, you can take a break and enjoy the views whilst you’re there. I definitely suggest coming to this part of the wall!

Foggy - It rained the day before so it was quite foggy, but it lends a different atmosphere to the wall. Made it a little more slippery and challenging.
